    Coralife Aqualight won't turn on

This is the second time it's happened, the first time to my 30" light and this time to my 48" light. They are both single-light fixtures, straight pin. The 48" has two CF bulbs in it. With the 30" I took it apart to see if I could find a loose connection, corrosion, anything that looked...

    Essential Fishkeeping reading...

I do think the most up to date information is on the net. However, I also like to drag a nice big picture book into bed to read before sleep. So, for general reading (and marveling at the old-fashioned equipment and outdated advice) and slobbering at pictures, I like Herbert Axelrods Atlas of...

    Rena XP3 Not Working!

When I first set up my 75 with an XP3 I nearly brought myself to tears because it wouldn't start. Come to find out, you have to have WATER IN THE TANK to, you know, have it go into the filter. So don't feel too bad. :)

    "Pest" snails wanted--

Thanks for reminding me to do this! For some reason I just can't get them going in my tanks, so I have to lay in a fresh supply now and then. I will check in on my LFSes.

    Selling Everything. Financial Crisis (VA)

I just came upon this thread and it stinks! We're getting kinda financially scary over here, too-I think we all know how you feel. We also know these tanks have a way of going back up when fortunes change, and the same will happen with you. Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later.

"A dozen large crickets, please", then hightail it outta there.

I've been there many times, too. Remember the fun you had with her-what a little beauty!

    New BN pleco eggs...

Yes, there is something very attractive about baby plecos. I think it's the way they move-very hoppy and jumpy. The easiest thing to do is to put in a TON of plants (real or fake) and hope for the best, and overfeed the tank a little. They won't all survive, but you'll probably get a few that...

White dots on my ghost shrimp

OK, just a little more about the rocking of ghost shrimp- Just now this one grabbed a whole Hikari sinking carnivore pellet and dragged it up to its lair in the "trees." They really are cool little piglets. And much bigger than cherries. AND you can see the food in their heads, which is nice.

Does your shrimp look like this? If so, completely normal. PS: Ghost shrimp ROCK! :D

    Spixi snail eggs

Just scrape them off the glass, or remove whatever decor/plant they are attached to and move that. Spixi eggs are REALLY tough. Hey-who's eating them? Most fish find them really distasteful.

what kind of livebearing fish is your favorite?

Heterandria formosa are my favorite. I avoided livebearers for a long time, then got some guppies as a gift. They really are beautiful when they're in good condition and from good parents. I just saw some platies posted by a member on loachforum ("Mad Duff")-they are just lovely.

    It's offical: I'm a sucker for a fishy face

She looks good, and I bet she's happy. How kind of you to want to help her, and fins crossed over here that she makes it.

    Apistogramma macmasteri pics

Gorgeous-he looks like you could fry him up and have him for dinner! {Hmm...that came out sounding kind of odd. I just mean he looks really fit and plump. Like you could filet him. Dam...did it again....]

    DIY Bogwood. Will it work?

I don't know about the type of wood, but-- I did do something reckless about 6 months ago and added a chunk of rotting-ish wood to my tank. I just scrubbed and chipped at it to get the loose/soft stuff off. Then washed it well. Chucked it in the tank and "sandbagged" it with plastic fish bags...

How nice to see them in a planted tank. They are adorable, and look very fit. Love their little fins sticking out. Thanks for posting the pics-really great.
