Thanks, BigRedReefs. I ended up calling someone that my supplier recommended as knowledgeable about rams/cichlids. He mentioned that it’s a normal eating habit for them. Eat/spit, eat/spit….. and the good news is that the rams are now poo’ing like crazy so I figure they must be ingesting...

I’m watching them from the second I put the food in (twice a day) and it doesn’t seem that one morsel stays in their mouths. They certainly grab a lot - they seem hungry- but just spit it all back out.

I got two electric blue rams a few days ago. They’re active and healthy looking. BUT! When I feed them, they eat like crazy but spit everything back out. I’m feeding them flakes and dried bloodworms. Any clues at to what’s going on and what I should do will be super appreciated.

Thank, Sara. Hmmmm....I looked up images and videos of water fleas and in the videos the fleas look lighter than what we saw. Definitely not what the larger one looked like. Our magnifying glass was not helpful.

Sadly, these things are too teeny-weeny to take a picture of that would be of any help. Just picture small dark dots zipping around randomly.

We have this blackish growth on everything in the tank - live plants included. Fish are healthy and happy but this stuff is EVERYWHERE. Would like to know what it is and how to curtail growth. Advice appreciated!

I have a male beta who got segregated as he suddenly killed the (large) female he was living with in our communal tank. Gave him a mystery snail and a rock shrimp for company and they've been happy buds for the last 6 months.

The aquarium store near us has a. pretty good selection of plants and they label them according to how easy it is to grow. I took the "no brain" ones. They're doing OK [emoji2] Maybe you have a shop near you that will have something great for your tank.
