    Green algea

I keep an eye on my nitrates and do 10% water changes every day or 2. I will find a test for phosphate, that could be the solution! Do you always leave the phosguard in your filter? Or just periodically add it.

    Green algea

Hello all. I have a 75g mbuna tank. 5 yellow labs, 6 yellow tail acei, 5 mpanga elongatus. Filtration is sunsun303b, fluval u2, fluval u3, one 40gph power head. So around 500-600 gph filtration. 1 4 foot t8 5500k lamp. Recently I have been getting algea blooms, just the green stuff and it's...

    50 gal stocking help

The siamese algea eaters or the corys? I've never kept siamese algea eaters so I'm really not sure, did a bit of research and people say they jump as juvenilles but not as adults. I've owned corys and never seen one even at the top of the tank.

    Help...high nitrates..

Wondering if you have a more specific suggestions for them? Mixing mbuna and peacocks or haps can be a unwise thing to do if you don't know what your doing. Mbuna are much more aggressive and alot of the time will beat up most peacock species. Not saying it's not possible, but it can be a...

    Help...high nitrates..

For the most part surprising adults leave juvenilles alone in my experience depending ob species of course. Expecially if you add them once the new tank is new to them as well that's just my experience. I overstock and find a good male to female ratio for each species as do most others who keep...

    50 gal stocking help

I'm sorry I meant to say the rocks won't hurt your corys! They will be perfectly fine with rocks. In my opinion that's not fully stocked as long as you have good filtration because there's nothing that's a bottom dweller in your list. Go for a pleco or the corys for sure As for the angels just...

    Help...high nitrates..

Alot of mbuna tanks work as juvenilles. Now you have 4 adult mbuna in a small space that are all quite aggressive. The blue and black one looks to me like maybe a Pseudotropheus cyaneorhabdos (maingano) or demasoni possibly a hybrid of both? Someone else is probably better at identifying...

    50 gal stocking help

#1: no the rocks would hurt your corys. Avoid rocks with very sharp edges pointed at the bottom of your tank as they can be sort of dumb I find haha. A note I would up your number of corys to 6+ as they really do appreciate larger groups, especially to have them be comfortable. #2: I'm not sure...

    Help...high nitrates..

Hello Ashley. Was your tank cycled prior to adding these fish? And how old are they now? What are your other readings from your tank? Ammonia levels, nitrites? 29 gallons is smaller than I like to go for mbuna, there could be some stress due to space. How low is very low for your ph? Mbuna due...

Ideas to make my tank better?

Ok. Lake malawi cichlids are aggressive and territorial. A minimum 55g is recommended for multiple to give them space to have their own territories. You keep them as a 1m/3-4f ratio is best as a beginner. Honestly if your fish store will allow you I would return him for credit, but that's your...

Ideas to make my tank better?

Do you happen to know what this fish is? Looks like mbuna possibly female soulosi hard to tell. Very hard to give you accurate advice of what to add without knowing species. If it is mbuna even a 30 long is too small in my opinion.

    Most fun to breed

If you want a fun and exciting aquarium with lots of breeding and activity (depending on size of aquarium you have) mbuna cichlids are awesome. Full of personality, weird breeding behaviors. I guess you could call them a "struggle" to keep but when it comes to keeping fish I just call it the...

Are microbubbles normal in a new tank?

Hello. I'm new on this site but heres my 2 cents. Is that tank has only been running for 5 days micro bubbles is normal in my experience. While a tank is becoming established I always get bubbles on walls and equiptment. If your water parameters are good, then I wouldn't worry yet
