    Aqueon LED lighting

Just looking for opinions on these LEDs lights. I see the general view is not great for plants. How are are they generally? Quality? Longevity? They are on sale at PetSmart for $75 for a 48 inch. Sounds like a good deal. Thanks!

    Cichlids For planted aquarium

Hello Everyone I am trying to decide how to stock my tank. It is very deep at 3 feet. It is planted and seems to be doing quite ok with plants. I have a couple of plecotomaus and some zebra tetras (which will be moved to another tank as they were starter fish to get the tank going). There are...

Getting ready for a new tank - want opinions

I noticed that two. From what I read and what the guy in the store said they sure keep the water looking crystal clear, while keeping maintainence to a minimum. We shall see. I think i may just get one becasue I have always wanted to try one!

Getting ready for a new tank - want opinions

Thanks Managerie. I think I am going to go with some Cichlads. I had some electric blue ones that breed in my old setup. Gives me an excuse to get more tanks. I also might go with more of a commmunity tank. With the surface area being small though maybe just a couple of big ones and some bottom...

    Buying Plants online

That is great. So what exactly did you get? What were the prices? Size of the plants? BTW I ended up finding a java fern locally. $4 for a BIG plant - I was impressed, early bought up all of their stock!

    rabid oscar!! lol

They are banned in Iowa too, or so I was told by a Aquarium Shop Owner, yet he said everyone still had them. Let me ask the people who think they are boring, are you predominately marine or freshwater people?

I don't know I wouldn't mind some piranhas! You cannot get them in Australia, so they are a novelty.

    rabid oscar!! lol

My Mexican cichlad is nuts too. He continually moves the gravel from one end of the tank to the other. It is quite impressive. I bought him a big pot to hide in which he seems to like too. I did buy the tetratec filter so he wouldnt attack the heater, but it was too noisy for my office. however...

What Made You Want A Freshwater Aquarium?

A trans pacific hobby I seem to always have fish. When I was young we had a tank of goldfish. They all lived to a ripe old age and just basically swam around a medium size tank. Nothing too exciting. When I started high school my friend and I got into Freshwater Tropical Fish. I had a couple...

    Tetratec Filter

Thanks for that! I am going to order one now. The big one is on special at foster and allen's web site. I think having the heater internal is great. I will have to let you all know how it turns out!

    Buying Plants online

Hey everyone! Has anyone ever bought plants online? If so from where? The plants in the stores seem too expensive for too little. I just need to get a start and then I should be able to grow and harvest my own! At least I was lucky enough to be able to do that in Australia. I mainly want...

    Tetratec Filter

Hey does anyone have a Tetratec filter with a built in heater? I am thinking of getting one for my tank with Grandpa in it (a big old mexican cichlid that loves to try and smash the heater in there now). Plus it would just look nicer!
