Hm, mine was sitting on the substrate as well. My guess is that I didn't have enough lighting.

My banana plant started to rot after two weeks. Maybe I planted it wrong? Naja grass seems interesting :) I might have to try that out in my tank.

I agree with the assassin snails. I had an abundance of pest snails so I plopped three assassins in my tank. Within a week, the pest snails were nearly gone.

Hm, I'd still do ~25% water changes everyday, monitoring the fish for a change in behavior. Be sure to let us know what your readings are once/if you get the kit :)

I'm so sorry to hear about what's happening! Until you get the water tester kit, I'd do several water changes and see if that might help. Are the fish gills red at all?

If it is Fish TB, I've heard it can be transmitted to humans, so I'd be careful if handling the fish or sticking your hand in the tank.

Do a water change or transfer them to another tank if available.

What are your tank readings as of right now? My guess is something cause an ammonia spike.

I also started with a bowl, but it was less than a gallon lol.

I was setting up ceramic bowl like things as decor and hiding places for my fish. I came home one day to discover one of the bowls had fallen over and trapped a fish. Sadly the fish didn't survived, but I now know to be more careful/avoid some decor items.
