Decided to call it quits on the salty side and breed betta fish

Thanks for the input I did do salt water for a number of years so cost definitely isn’t a problem I’d regularly spend 150 to 200 every time I made an order on supplies/ coral/ fish or aquariums. I’m doing this entirely for the experience maybe I like it maybe I don’t if I make even a little...

Decided to call it quits on the salty side and breed betta fish

I’m just bored with salt water I’ve experimented in the passed with some cheap Walmart crown tails just for fun and am considering getting into some of the more expensive designer bettas bought my first on eBay today I’m a little sketched out buying from eBay but thought I’d give it a try. Just...

    aquascaping a new tank

My honest opinion is that it looks very formal. This could be good or bad depending on what you’re going for. Don’t go with 2 because you’re asking for disaster to happen. The other 2 look very nice. I’d personally put short plants in to give a nice meadow look and frost the back of the...

Is it possible to level this kind of stand?

You’re tank is fine. if it wobbles shove something under it. As far as not being level the worst that will happen is the higher side of the aquarium will be an eye sore. I couldn’t see a 20 gallon aquarium giving out because its a little unlevel I’d buy a canopy that over hangs so I can’t see...

My wife gets mad when I buy stuff for my aquarium. What to do?[emoji848]

Setting up a saltwater aquarium is really the only expensive part once it’s up and going I’d compare it to buying dog food every month with the occasional splurge on buying a new coral here and there cost wise. As long as you start up right and don’t take short cuts I wouldn’t be to worried...

Can’t find blue legged crab anywhere

Mine switch shells all the time if there aren’t a bunch in your tank I assume it probably just crawled out and died shells probably in the liverock somewhere

    Weird white slugs?

    Coral won’t open

I’ve had zoas that only parts of the colony would open on. 2 weeks isn’t bad. If they don’t open soon just move them somewhere with low light and less water flow when they open try moving where you want them. I had a colony of brown button polyps that didn’t open for over a month and suddenly...

My wife gets mad when I buy stuff for my aquarium. What to do?[emoji848]

This thread should mostly be funny my wife just thinks it’s a dumb hobby and a waste of money. King Fishers got it! I can only imagine her reaction [emoji23]

Thinking of getting a prepaid card so she can’t see what I’m spending. What do you guys do when you’re significant others had enough of your addiction?

Adding old sand into new aquarium?

I already know it's a bad idea to reuse sand as it's holding a lot of nutrients. I set up a nano aquarium and was cycling but wanted a deep sand bed so I dug out all the sand in the nano and added old sand from a previous aquarium. All sand was rinsed so I'll have to start the cycle again. I'm...

Need help finding fish that stay under an inch

Thanks sniper hank. I am kinda interested in either the red striped goby or red spotted goby. Both max out at an inch. I am adding a Refugium to add water volume and some better filtration. Other than that I want a pair of sexy shrimp

Need help finding fish that stay under an inch

Bribo. The only gobies I'm seeing that stay under an inch are neon gobies. If I have to settle for bottom dwellers I will. How about inverts? Anything tiny that will stay in the water column?

Need help finding fish that stay under an inch

Thanks angel. I'm gonna look into acclimating these to salt but I'd like to find something even smaller than guppies. Preferably something that would be normally seen in a reef environment.

What's a decent size aquarium for discus or an elephant nose/ community tank?

What do you guys keep your discus in and how many? Also what's a good size for an elephant nose/ community tank? I know I could look this up but pet sites don't seem to accurate and I'd rather hear from the guys actually doing it. I have lots of aquariums from 10 up to 180 gallons. I know...

My soon to be invert tank and mini reef

Thank you. It took a lot more time then it should have. I had a 18 gallon tote full of base rock that took around 5 hours to figure out how I wanted to do it. All that time just for 5 rocks.
