Did you do a fish less cycle on your tank before adding the fish? What are your water parameters? Test strips are not very accurate when testing water. It is suggested you get the API Freshwater Master Test Kit.

if i get eco complete i was thinking about adding more plants. would it be okay then?

the tank is already up and running but it only contains shrimp and is fully cycled. whatever was used to color the gravel seems to be chipping off therefore i want to change it

the pet store said they'd only grow to be 1.5- 2". They are Japanese algae eating shrimp.
