I agree with ziggy. Either buy a new complete system or retrofit if you have a hood. What do you plan on keeping? 90g are really deep ( tall ) and I think HQI penetrate water better than moguls? Im not sure...ziggy can answer that one.

Well by now ( its been a month or more ) 0% of the original SW should be there since I do weekly PWC. I also replaced 2" of sand. Im usig RO/DI w/IO salt until I run out and switch back to reef crystals.

The tank I just got. It has been up for 4 years. Everything reads good except pH. I think I may have a faulty kit since kH is good ( even on the high side ) the tank should have the ability to buffer pH naturally no problem.

How tall is the hood? I wouldnt go any closer than 6" to the water.

Since your cycling you dont have much to worry about but when you get fish you need to get rid of the "somewhere between" and get a real reading.

The thing is, I do 15% weekly changes. Thats why I am leaning towards the LR losing its alkalinity. I dunno...I hope I get a response. 100lb of new LR wont be cheap.

Didnt they use lead in the glass? Not that water is strong enough to leech the lead ( like alchohal does )...Id replace it anyways...probably very brittle with age.

The key to T5's are individual reflectors. If you have that, you are gold. IME PC lights are not very efficient, especially compaired to new lighting. I always liked MH, they are simply the best thing out, aside from the new T5 thing. Get t5's with individual reflectors or mh/vho combo.

I cant stress this enough, DO NOT put water from the LFS in your tank. There are a few things that cant be exposed to air, and I have my methods for that. But anything else can be in air for the literally 1 second you use to take out if out the container and into your tank after acclimation...
