Just remember it slowly will lower your pH if it has any effect at all. I don't notice a difference in pH with or without driftwood as my tanks are all overstocked slightly and require a total of 50% water changed every week, causing the pH to pretty much rise back to what my tap water is.

I agree with above, if you have a PetCo in your area check out their Root Trees for $10 which usually come with a decent amount of java fern on it. In a 5g Chi I would get a root tree, two Marimo moss balls, and maybe a stem or two of Hornwort to float.

I've never gotten the blue out, pretty sure it's Victoria Green which stains stuff. It never did stain my decor or fake plants, but the silicone seals on my 55g, 29g, and the 10g I used it on are still stained, it's been probably 3 years since the 55g had been dosed.
