Should I dose lots of iron for the red or will they be okay for a while without it?

Yes it is a lava rock base with black gravel as the top layer!! I’ve added java fern, windolov, and s repens around the base of the rocks. So far it looks good!! Any advice on some medium/easier red plants and where to buy them?? I want to mix some red with the green!

Hello everyone!!! Starting up a new 120 gallon planted tank!!! Just set it up so here are the first pictures taken!! Feel free to give me any advise or ask any questions you would like to know!! I will be posting as I go along!

Is black sand really the way to go? Or should I spend the extra money on more nutrient rich substrate!? I’m going to buy it in the next couple of days and want to get it right

The problem is two of the 4 bulbs are blue? I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not

I was thinking of running two finnex 24/7’s on this tank instead of that fluorescent light. Would that be a good decision!? Given the size and depth of the tank or would that be too much!? Here is an update on my tank! Still have the original fish and plants!! (Plus a few more) plants are growing well and shrimp have started to have babies!! You can see one in the third picture. Any more recommendations or comments would be appreciated!!
