Trouble with fishless cycling: no ammonia, high nitrites/nitrates

the bacteria i believe goes dormant as long as the water don't go stagnate. as for stalling your cycle doing water changes can do that as you're removing what the bacteria needs. 3 weeks is perfectly acceptable for cycling.

Trouble with fishless cycling: no ammonia, high nitrites/nitrates

from your last dosing of ammonia, and you haven't done a large water change. your ammonia and nitrites both read 0 your tank should be cycled. if you are unsure. dose it once more. do nothing else bar checking your water parameters. once ammonia and nitrites are at zero do a 30% water change...

you are aware how the nitrogen cycle works?? Waste breaks down into ammonia, then one bacteria converts that to nitrites. then another bacteria then converts that to nitrates. from what you've described, the first bacteria is thriving converting all the ammonia in nitrites. though the...

kuhils are one of my favorites, actually don't give off much bioload ans will keep small snails at bay. they also like to burrow so don't worry if they go missing for days even weeks. also these guys are so tough to kill. considering your tank size i'd drop the pleco

How does my stock list look? Any advice appreciated!

i would not get the krib, given hes a cichlid and would be aggressive. remember the slowly stock your fish not just hit with a big bioload straight up

Setting up a 3g bowl for my betta

i would also advise not to go filterless, but you could get a heater mat (not sure how well they work seen at LFS). If you are determined to go filterless with the walstad method you will need to cram as much plants in it as possible. on top of that you would need let the plants grow out and...

Hi guys I have a couple of FW tanks established already, but I've recently acquired a 4ft tank. I have decided on anything yet but was thinking on moving my 30gal FW into it and starting my first SW tank in the 30gal. My first issue is filtration: I'm thinking about getting a sump(i've never...
