    How much bite force?

Pretty sure that red earsliders need to eat IN the water as it helps them swallow and allow the digestive system breakdown the food...do research before you go out and choose a life to hold in your hands....

    Is this normal?

I think that you should reread the rules of the forum...we are all here because of our love of an "expensive" hobby..and for the humane care of them...those little goldies are suffering and can't tell you anything...yes this is expensive tanks, filters, lights ,food, heaters and just generally...

    Is this normal?

I don't believe burger wife was being rude just trying to explain that the tank is too small for goldfish...that tank is the equivalent of you being trapped in a tiny bathroom with a friend and no working toilet... (stuff piles up) it's not safe for your fish..they need more room to swim and...

    (Newbie alert) Betta safe?

The filter should run all the time!!! letting water flow over the media inside the system creating the beneficial bacteria you need and much needed gas exchange..there is a little switch on the side of the little pump. you can adjust the flow with that..your betta will do just fine in that...

    Cleaning tank

You can do water changes as often as you like clean fresh water is never a bad thing. As far as like vacuuming the substrate I do mine once a week as well as clean the glass and any decor that needs it. my filters I don't touch unless I notice a flow Change usually once a month or so.

    Creatures for My 5 Gallon?

A 5 gallon tank has such a small footprint more than one of anything is pushing it....instead of cramming "critters" into any empty tanks you have laying about maybe research an animal you like and get or maybe make a bigger tank for them? Just my opinion
