I agree with that when considering the domino or blue devil damsel, but chromis are not aggressive and if you have a hand full they will school together and add a cool look to a reef tank. Just my opinion

Well I came home from work today and my tank is about 75% clear all the sudden! This has been such a weird thing I still have no idea what it really was! I am ordering a protein skimmer tonight to help prevent something like this again. I appreciate everyones help!

I did a 20% water change last night and it has helped some. I use only RO water in this tank. The water still looks milky white but it has cleared up slighlty. All fish/inverts look completly normal.

So does everyone think this is an algae bloom? I thought algae blooms were more green than white and had a foul smell? Also does an algae bloom hurt the tank inhabitants? And wouldnt I pick up something when testing my parameters?

Ok here is the update:
1) I tested my salinity with a hydrometer and it is at 1.023
2)Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0
3)Strange odor but not un-pleasent, it smells natural like something that would possibly come out of a tank but my roommate seems to be having an allergies attack from...
No it doesnt smell like a rotten egg. Its more of a strong salty smell. I cant really think how to discribe it. It almost smells similar to chlorine but I know nobody came into my house and poured chlorine in my tank.

Thanks for all the input! Im going to pick up another MJ 1200 and see what that gives me for dead spots. How do you all stand on flow direction? Pointed at the glass, pointed toward each other, ect?
