    Bottom Feeders

We love our crew of six panda cories. They do a good job of cleaning food that falls to the bottom.

    Corydoras

We have six panda cories. Sometimes I have to stare just to make sure they are breathing and still alive. Love watching them when they are busy though!

    Male honey gourami compatability?

I love our Nerite snails. I don't find the eggs to much of a problem and we have four of the snails in a 37 gallon. We also have ramshorns that came in on some live plants(ugh). I love our male honey gourami. We bought him and male blue flame gourami at the same time. Not to much...

4 African Dwarf frogs in a 10 gallon, will they breed?

Our African Clawed Frog got large and started eating fish in our tank. He got re-homed, escaped his tank, never to be seen again. I think their cat ate him and refused to admit to them he did it! :-)

    Plant stocking?

I have a low tech planted tank. The Anubias are pretty happy and doing the best of any of my plants. I have some tied on to driftwood and some super glued onto rocks. I also have a couple varieties of crypts planted in gravel. They seem to be doing all right but are slow growers. I use...

Do Certain Corydoras Species School Better?

We have six panda cories. They are rarely together in a group of six. They split up more into pairs or may three together. It is cool to see when all six shoal together though. We love them!

    Best fish for grandparents

We had an African clawed frog get out of a small tank that had a lid. There was a small opening around the filter that he somehow got through. He jumped off the table and made it about 10 ft. before I found him covered in dustballs and pet hair. He lived through that adventure and has since been...

    Help with ramshorns!

I am curious to hear if anyone has advice. We had some Ramshorns arrive in our tank via plants. I keep pulling them out as soon as I see them. We have Nerite snails so I do not want to put anything in the tank that will get them.

    Where are our fish going?

So I just needed to vent to others that will appreciate our problem. My daughter brought home an African frog last year from school. It is responsible for our enjoyable new hobby of fish (and frog) keeping. Well the frog was sold as a dwarf frog to the science teacher so that is what we...

    New Tank Issues...

We had to do a fish in cycle and had very good luck by following the ideas in the post below. I also made the investment in quality aquarium chemicals such as Prime and Stability. And as the others posted, water changes are important. Sorry you got bad advice...

    Sad Dwarf Froggy

This is what I am afraid of. We have panda cory cats in the tank and I fear the frog might actually be able to catch one. They get out of the way quickly I have noticed but if they are not paying attention, one might become dinner. I have always thought the frog cool. It came home from...

    Sad Dwarf Froggy

I have read that the frogs do this. I have never noticed it on ours.

    Sad Dwarf Froggy

We have a clawed African frog that we thought was a Dwarf frog. He is not a Dwarf frog in size. We have him in our 37 gallon community tank. He has eaten two of our Zebra Danios that were dying and slow moving, laying on the bottom. We were not sure about the first fish that went missing but...

    Best site for online plants

A few months back I got a nice order of plants from Han Aquatic. He helped me pick out plants for a low tech tank. I had no idea what to order. Everything arrived great. A few did not survive but I blame that on tank conditions. Most of the plants from that order are thriving. My Anubis...

Help Requested: Newbie setting up new 90G Tank

I will just add my advice to do planted from the beginning if you think that might be what you want at some point. We made a big investment in fake plants and fake decorations. Regrettable error. I have had good luck with low tech plant choices. Anubias and java fern have done the best. I...

I am ready to give up

For water changes, we use water jugs that once held spring water or distilled water. Makes it pretty easy to haul back and forth from the sink to the tank. We even have our kids help. The 7 year old hauls the empty ones and the 10 year old hauls the full ones. We have made water changes a...

    Should I start over completely?

I don't have a particular answer for you either. Don't give up on live plants yet. I converted from plastic to real and wish I had started with live! I am choosing to go the low tech option. No fancy light, no Co2, minimal ferts. I have had good luck with Anubias and Java fern. I did learn...

    Stocking 30 gal tank

It is weird with our panda corys. We had three to start(9/17) and had delays to add more. We were finally able to get three more last week. We see less activity from them as a group of six then when they were a group of three. For color we added three sunset platys of the candycorn variety...

    Stocking 30 gal tank

The panda cories we have had since September are probably about 1.5 inches. We just added three more last week and they are slightly smaller. They seem to be fine with our gravel, I have not seen that their barbs have been damaged. We have the pea gravel in our tank. Our fish store has...

    Stocking 30 gal tank

Our small locally owned fish store advised against the green barbs in our community tank. He said they would be the only fish left in the tank. I don't love our long fin danios. They are not relaxing to watch in the tank. They are constantly dashing all around the tank(37 gallon). My whole...

    Zebra Nerite eggs

We have three Nerite snails and the eggs show up everywhere. I am just glad to have snails that work great helping keep the tank clean but don't keep multiplying!

New Fish Mommy in Need of Help

I had this link on speed dial because I had to do a fish in cycle. Follow the guidelines and prepare to do lots of water changes and it does work. Be patient and do not add to many fish to soon. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f12/fish-in-cycling-step-over-into-the-dark-side-176446.html

    my panda and albino cories

Our favorite store is a 30 minute drive so we don't stop in that often. That is why we finally asked to be put on the wait list for the panda cory cats. They quarantine in store. The fish cost a bit more because of that but worth it.

    my panda and albino cories

I love the panda cory cats. We bought three to start with plans to add more but every time we go to the LFS they either do not have them or the stock is in quarantine. Currently on the wait list for the next healthy bunch.
