    Saving a plant

Does anyone know what it might be? My BF got me my first tank for xmas. It was second hand and still had gravel inside, also came with a few nice bits of bogwood. I'm still in the process of setting this tank up. Turns out he found this tiny plant in the tank. He had expected I might have it...

    Cycling just my filter

Well I've got my bottle of Kleen Off but I've decided to just hold out till my soil comes and cycle in the tank. Also I've decided to upgrade my filter media to some Biohome Ultimate. Of which comes with some free filter starter balls but with what's said here I'm not sure I'll use them.

That is cool, can't say I'd want one though. For me our modern cubes look much better.

Put a face to the screen name - Post your selfie!

I always look horrible in photos. But then maybe that's just how I look and in the moment, whenever it arrises while looking into my reflection I morph myself into something more appeasing.

    Cycling just my filter

So is the bacteria in a bottle a no go due to being a potential waste of money? like if it was free would it be worth trying or are there hidden risks in using it in attempt to get a stable culture going?

    Cycling just my filter

So I've been to B&Q and seems they no longer stock ammonia :s So on the way back I pass an aquatics store so popped in to see if they had anything for a fishless cycle. He offered some bacteria, I asked "but what will they eat". Turns out they've not heard of fishless cycling. Yays thank you...

    Cycling just my filter

So I've placed an order for a few bags of Aqua soil and a range of easy growing plants (I'll do a post of my full/planned setup soon). Until that arrives I was thinking it might be good to have my filter running to start developing some bacteria? I have a bottle of Tetra SafeStart. I don't have...

    5ft Tank Scape Critique

Hi Harry, I'm only just starting out so hope you don't mind me pitching in my totally inexperienced view. The trunk makes an awesome focal point at the upper left 3rd, with the nobbley bits in the perfect spot. I then find my eye drawn along the lower branch, but then it wants to go up but...

QT first fish in planted tank?

Thank you coralbandit and BBradbury. I didn't know about tanks cycling differently, but that certainly makes sense. I'll be sure to do tests. Is it still important to do water changes when there are only plants in the tank?

QT first fish in planted tank?

I'm going to use Aqua Soil for my tank. It says it lets of ammonia to help cycle the tank, so not to add fish for the first 3 weeks. Is there any need to quarantine the first fish in. Could the plants be at any risk?

    Hi! :D x

Hi to everyone, I'm just starting out. I've been recovering, still am, from an operation and for some reason a strong desire to have a lovely tank with fish has gotten hold of me for over a month now. I've got a second hand 95Litre/25Gallon tank. Originally I had been thinking of just keeping...
