    salt fever...

When I caught salt fever, I just went out and bought another aquarium. In hindsight, its a darn good thing too. I spent sooo much on my 20g reef. I don't even want to think about what my visa balance would be right now if I had switched out my 125g.

    PC lighting on non-planted tank?

So, my 36bow has been up for a few weeks now. Everybody's healthy (5 Gold Tetras so far), waters ok other than some film on the surface, but I'm running a surface skimmer to get rid of that and doing 25% PWC's daily. A couple of days ago I noticed some algae on my rocks. No big, so I reduced my...

Need Filter Recommendation for new 125 gal

I've always used powerheads in my planted tanks. Just make sure they don't cause any surface movement. I have two maxi-jets outfitted with extra hose on the intakes and they're run under my gravel. So including my filter, I have three intakes on the right side, and three outputs on the left...

    Slanted floor!

So I just filled my 36. Ah carp! My water level is flush with the top on the left and about 1 cm low on the right. Its not the tank or stand causing this so it must be the floor. Anyone foresee any problems with this? I'm not worried about the tank sliding off the stand. The pressure should be...

    Green Cloudy Water

I'd say your green water is definitely caused by algae. For a quick fix for the clarity of the water, I've had good experience with Algone, but thats only curing the symptoms. Algae is mostly caused by either light or nutrients(but you know this). You don't seem to have too much light. I think...

the most you've paid for a single fish

For a freshwater fish, $80 for a 7 inch royal pleco in my old 125. Could've bought a younger one for much less though.

    Stocking w/ Swordtails... ?

Thanks guys, I forgot to consider overcrowding versus bioload. I used to really like my red wag and marigold swords because of how active they were. But I've pretty much decided to switch breeds though. I really prefer the look of a school, so I'm going to try my hand at Gold Tetra's again...

    Stocking w/ Swordtails... ?

Thanks guys. I've had experience w/ the swords and neons before. I really just couldn't remember the temperment of the swords and what ratio I should use. 3:1 Female:Male seems to be the consensus. As far as over stocking, I'm running an Eheim 2026 so I shouldn't really have any problems. But...

    Stocking w/ Swordtails... ?

Hey all, first post in a few years w/ new user name (you probably don't remember my old one) I'm refilling my 36 gallon bowfront (its been empty for too long) and am going to use either neon tetra's or swordtails as my main school of fish. If I go with swordtails, I'll probably have about 14 or...
