Fishsitting Friend's Betta - Murky water?

Obviously if your breeding and stuff, that's another story, but in my experience I've never used heat for my Betta and they've done fine. I'll leave the rest up to the experts, but water changes should be done all the time, not just when you fish sit.

    Swollen Black Skirt Tetra

I've looked at some pictures of dropsy and it appears that it bloats the whole fish. With mine, it's concentrated towards the bottom. Although it doesn't sharply bulge like the other picture. It looks puffy.

    Swollen Black Skirt Tetra

And I learn something else.... I'll try and snap a picture when she's laying in the Java Fern. I'm assuming she, I don't know. Should this really be the case, I'm sure it's been discussed here before. Any thing I should have ready? This is the first time anything like this has happened in my...

I got an Albino Bristle nose a couple of months ago. I didn't know they could be that aggressive. They can solve your algae problem though!

    Swollen Black Skirt Tetra

One of my Black Skirt Tetras has become swollen on both the left and right side towards the bottom. Ever since that, it's been hanging out alot in my Java Fern up against the glass. While in the Java Fern, it's at an odd angle. Is she pregnant? Or is it something else? I've Googled this...

Trapped for days under a plant?

Yeah, but he's on his side most of the time now swimming in endless circles on the bottom of the tank. He's giving it all his might but isn't really getting somewhere. His energy seems to be coming back and but he can't seem to keep himself upright. I've also noticed that he's becoming more...

Trapped for days under a plant?

He's still alive. He rolls over to his side sometimes, I thought he was dead at first and reached him to remove him and he started moving again. This is so agonizing!

Trapped for days under a plant?

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AcNWbRmzZtWTjg For starters, I'm wondering if anybody can identify this Cory for me. A few days ago, I purchased him and fell in love with him. He was very active and just loved exploring. Not more then 24 hours putting him in there, I no...

Any tips for moving a 50 gallon tank?

I've moved a 20 Gallon Planted Twice. I would recommend you follow workfortheman's advice. Also go to K-Mart and get one of those Strafoam coolers to keep your fish in. It helps keep the temperature steady and keep an air hose thing in it. I usually take some empty gallon jugs and fill about...

    Preventing double mistakes?

I read that article you posted, very interesting. I actaully re read it about 4 times. I took a few measurements. I tested my Nitrate/Nitrites with the Juncle Test Strips which were really hard to read since for Nitrate the options were 0 ppm or 20 ppm. I guessed it to be 5 ppm - 10 ppm, but...

    Preventing double mistakes?

Hey folks, I just spent a couple of hours scrubbing my tank to death, because of an out of control algae. Hair, slimy, on glass, you name it I had it. There was even algae rooting itself into the gravel. It's a 20 Gallon High with a AH supply 55 Watts on top. That puts me right at 2.75 wpg...

Hair Algae and the fish that love them.

I had hair algae in my tank, that was awful. It's rooted itself in the gravel all over my plants. I just ended up taking all my plants out, washing them off and am trying to get all the algae off my gravel. I don't have any algae eaters except for a few snails and they just can't keep up. My...

    Canister Filters

I've been googling different Canisters on the net, alot of mixed reactions of course. I looked at Fluval also, but I guess you have to clean them often from what I've read. Anything else about why Rena is better? Why does it have to be made in France? France of all places. Scott Espresso...

    PETA and Fish ethics

PETA Pinheads for the Ethical Treatment of Animals The person Sean Hannity gave the Lobsters to was Flipper. There was another incident where a musem somewhere had a GoldFish in a non working blender. It was a ethical test to see how many people would flip the switch. Of course Hannity said...

    Wierd eye on Female Betta

Hi all, It's been months since I've been on here. So I'm back in the swing and with a new problem. My female betta in a community tank eye on her right side is strange. It looks like there's skin ( or scales covering it). What's also covering it is sort of sticking out to. She seems to be...

Out of control Algae, is Algone the answer?

I just read all the post again to make sure I didn't forget anything and I did. A few weeks ago it was a hideous brown algae, not hairy though, very short. That disapered though now I'm seeing a long and Hairy Green Algae. That's been the worse. It wouldn't even come off when i scraped it...
