Update!!!! There was a ton of wasted under one of They decorations in the tank. Vacuumed that out did a partial water change the pleco is doing good and the tank doesn’t smell anymore

I have a 20 gallon tank. We have some plants and 2 goldfish. I know most of the beneficial bacteria is in the filter but how often should you change it? I know when your do pwc you rinse it off in that water but how often should you change the entire thing? I’m using a hob bio bag from tetra.

We got them from 2 different places. The one store seems to die in about a day the others lasted about a week but then showed the exact same symptoms. They start out super active when we get them home then they slow way down real quick and stick to the bottom of the tank then they stop moving...

I float them for about 15-20 min then I add a little tank water to the water in the bag let them float another 10 min add a little more water wait 10 more min and then let them into the tank.

Everything in the tank is aquarium safe And no wood. We do use well water. Why would that be bad? I used well water on all my fish tanks growing up and never had this issue. We have had the metals checked and they were fine. We haven’t checked for parasites how do you do that?

I just looked up the anacharis and I really like those! I might have to get some. Is having them in a rocky substrate okay? We’re also thinking of setting up a new tank soon so we could do a different substrate in that one if it’s better in something else
