    new goby making tank cloudy

sorry it took so long but here are some pics. there is one pic of the cloudy tank and one before. The difference in person is more than on the photos. I'm not sure how much I can take either, he might be going back. Everyone should think of this before getting a goby. Thanks for all the info...

    new goby making tank cloudy

Not sure what sand it was. It is the fine sand that came in bags with saltwater in it. The tank and sand has been set up for 1-1/2 years. It was cloudy when I set it up. I usually vaccum up the debris on top of the sand when I do water changes which also makes the water cloudy. I didn't want to...

    new goby making tank cloudy

I got me a sand siffting goby two days ago and since then he has been going crazy siffting through my sand. This is a good thing and thats why I got him. The problem is that my tank is pretty cloudy due to him stirring up the sand so much. Is this going to be a problem? I see no ill effects so...

    Sick Mushrooms?

My mushrooms are slowly making a comeback. I realize that the cyano was the problem. My question now is how much does the light from a window effect the algea in an aquarium. The right side of my tank (closest to the window) has algea growing while the left side does not.

    Sick Mushrooms?

I'm pretty sure I figured it out. There is a red slime like algea that is spreading around on that rock. It started to creep up on my hairy mushroom and I could tell that it was bothering it. I am going to brush and siphon this algea up soon and I'll keep you up to date.

    Sick Mushrooms?

No changes at all. My lighting is 4X54 T5's that are exactly 1 year old. I did add about 10lbs of cured live rock about two weeks ago. Like I said its really weird because all other corals and mushrooms look the best that they have ever looked. Its only the red mushrooms that are shriveled. You...

    Sick Mushrooms?

Hello, For the past three days all of my red mushrooms have been shriveled up. This is weird because all my other mushrooms and corals are doing fine (I have multiple color mushrooms, leather coral, xenia, frogspawn, starburst, button polyps, staghorn, and sun coral.) See attachments for...

    algae on glass

Thanks. How often do you clean? One problem I have is that some of my rocks rest on the back glass and my mag float just can't get to those areas. Any suggestions? I'm glad that this is normal, I'll just have to get used to using the mag float every day.

    algae on glass

I got my new t5 light for christmas (4X54 watt on 55 gallon). Since then I have been getting this yellowish green algae on glass. It looks almost like pollen and when I wipe it off it kinda acts like a powder. If I don't clean for about 4 days it really builds up. Has anyone else experienced...

    coral dying/cloudy water

There are two photos in my gallery now. As you will see in the picture the coral is not big at all, but the polyp is usually bright green and fully open. The water does not stink and everything is doing fine except for the polyp and the water clarity. I am performing a 20% water change now and...

    coral dying/cloudy water

My parameters are posted above. I'm going to do a water change tommorrow. I think my coral is dead. I only have (2) 15 watt lights which I know are not enough, but this coral has been good and growing for 5 months now and all the sudden its dead :( . Try to post photos tommorrow.

    coral dying/cloudy water

Can't seem to figure out how to post a picture. Its saying that the image must be less than 1024 pixels. Not sure how to change that on the camera. I'll try and figure it out and post photos. Aquarium is still cloudy. All animals are fine except for the small coral.

    coral dying/cloudy water

Sorry, my info is now up to date. Butterfly passed away about a month ago. Not sure what type of coral. It is just two polyp type corals. I don't have a reef, they were on some live rock that I got when I set up my tank. My concern is that something is wrong with the water since the corals that...

    coral dying/cloudy water

I've had my tank set up for 5 months now. I have a couple pollyp's that came with the live rock. I came home yesterday and my water was cloudy. All parameters are good. I have been doing regular water changes and haven't added or taken anything away. I thought that maybe something died in the...

    T5 lights

I'm ready to buy some lights. I have my mind made up that I want t5's. My plan was to go with the Nova Extreme 4X54 watt. Now I'm reading that to get the most out of the lights you need individual reflectors. I have no problem getting a different fixture but the Nova is the only one that I know...

    T-5 OR PC?

I'm ready to buy some lights for my 55 gallon tank so I can grow some soft corals. I've narrowed it down to t-5 or pc. Any suggestions on which is better. Not sure exactly which brand but its either 4X54 watt t-5 with lunar lights or 4X65 watt pc with lunar lights. I've heard that t-5 run...

    Nitrates, in the danger zone!

You need to make sure that the water that you are putting into the tank has no nitrates in it. My well water has a reading of 30ppm, so when I would try to lower my nitrates it would never get below 30ppm. I now use a ro/di unit to filter the water and my tank stays at around 5ppm. You can also...

    2 LOSSES

No I am not q'ting the fish. I know I should, but my lfs holds them for me in a tank by themselves for two weeks before I take them home. I also agree with everything that has been said, but it still stinks when you have done everything by the book, your water test good, and the fish still die...
