    Flourite and HOB filters

Well I'd go with a piece of hardscape then. Either that or DIY fan on the output. Like a piece of acrylic to spread the flow out along the surface instead of just dumping it in.

    Flourite and HOB filters

If your inclined, you can just put a rock or piece of driftwood where the water falls back into the tank. What size tank? I perfer a canister on anything over 10g myself. :P

For my filters, I use 1 each of the foam pads in the bottom basket seperated by one of the inserts. The middle basket I fill completely with bio-rings/stars/nanoballs. The top basket I have the bottom of it empty for inserting chemical filtration when needed then an insert with the polishing...

exponential pond snail growth control ideas?

Control the amount of food and you can control their amount of reproduction. I've heard that kuhli loaches, the smaller snake like loach, will eat the eggs.

    Light Timing

Gotta watch those, if anything touches the dial it could cause it to stick and not rotate properly and strip out the mechanism. So make sure none of your wires will touch the dials.

    walmart frogs

Is it albino or is it grey? I've kept the tiny little greyish frogs from places like walmart, petco, and petsmarts for years. None of them ever got a body longer than 1.5-2 inches long and they are kinda dumb. Never lost a fish to one either. In fact I've lost several frogs to gouramis...

    Filter upgrade time?

I'd perfer a xp3 on a 55, but the xp2 would do it. I have a 180g that had one xp4 on it and it wasn't enough for me, so I added a second xp4. For the record, xp2 = 150gph, xp4 = 200gph. The pumps aren't that much different, the filter volume is what changes the most. Are we having the same...

    Filter upgrade time?

xp2 is perfect for a 29g. Its actually filtered flow rate is around 150gph. I have one on my 29g shrimp tank and its great. The xp1 has only slightly less flow but the big difference is the xp2 has twice the room for media. The xps filters have adjustable flow, its a valve like thing you put...

Cutting holes in clay pots and need advice.

Your gonna need water to cool the blade. Its most important with diamond blades. Diamond blades are diamond dust embbed in metal. If the metal gets hot, as it will, it becomes soft and the diamond dust gets ripped out. Carbide blades need cooling too, to prevent them from getting soft...

    Riccia Fluitans

A trick i use is to suspend a piece of that netting with suction cup airline holders across the top of the tank. You put it about a half inch below the surface, and toss any pieces of riccia you can find under it. Every tiny little fragment will work. Since you've set your net close to the...
