I was wondering what is the difference between sea salt and cichlid lake salt. I got a huge bucket of the red sea salt for free and i was wondering if i could use that in my freshwater tank.

I am having a ongoing problem with red alage. I have used the red slime to keep it under control. But it seems to just keep coming back. what can be done to get rid of it. From what i have been told it comes about when you have excessive amounts of phosphates in the tank.
