    clown loach experts please read

In all honesty,al 29US gal tank is rather small for a pair of clown loaches. With your planned setup I would make sure I fed some frozen brine shrimp pr bloodworm at lightsout. I have a pair of clown loaches in a community tank but-at the moment my loaches think they are peppered corries!!

    My NitrAtes are shy...

Off Topic but..''Trolling''! If that is what yourefer to as advice other than the usual..'your tank is too small, lower the PH' then I supose Im guilty.Im offering advice based on my OWN experience NOT being a google intellectual like some who could be classed as such. If my advice is classed...

In my experience-fishless cycling is crap!!! You are left uncertain. What would you prefer? Edit-nothing can substanstiate fishless cycling being either more humane or superior.Dont waste time or money pandering to supposed isues. I would bet that most of the people dying to jump in here...

    My NitrAtes are shy...

In laymans' terms... Buy a few fish and put them in! Get a few guppies, chances are they wil be OK,should they start gasping then take them back. From reputable teat kits I have had readings that NO fish would have been able to survive. Take the plunge and reject all the self righteous...

What test kit are you using? I find the best indicator of water quality is the fish themselves. That is why I consider fishless cycling, although morally correct,to be flawed. You never really know if your readings are a true representation of the water and it's params. I have just cycled using a...

    Marble hatchet deaths

Did these deaths occurr shortly after a water change? Hatchets are very sensitive to water changes and conditioners must always be used.Im thinking maybe your local water params may have fluctuated or did you change de-chloro product?

    calling all ACF people!

Heavy filtration is a big no-no! Yes-the water quality will be better and it will be more aesthetic for yourself but the frogs and their lateral lines will feel as if they have a powerdrill ringing in their ears permanently! They do NOT like current. In the wild they do not live in streams with...

    calling all ACF people!

Ok... Undergravel filter-minimal disturbance and noise-caves and weeds. Dont be too sensitive with the water changes-they are used to crap conditions and too good conditions are unnatural. That does not mean neglect them though! Pm me if you have any more questions...im tied for time this moment.

Any African Clawed Frog Breeders out there?

Ive managed to get eggs!!!!! Sinec upgrading to a 30 gallon last week and moving all my fish out,my frogs have been all alone in the 15 gallon.2 males, one female. One male has quite an extreme case of ''bloat'' and has had such for about a year. When I moved all my fish what were in there I...

Internal parasites!!! Have a look on google (and hopefully some here may inform also) on feeding garlic. There is no scientific proof but some results have been positive-I tried soaking bllodworm and prawn in garlic puree as a last resort for bloat in an ACF.It did not cure it but-I swear it...

Im using Aquarium pharmaceuticals master test kit. My tank is 130L (29 uk gallons). 14 fish in the tank. At kights on this morning the fish seemed ''lazy'' but no visible adverse behavior. With the amount of changes I have been conducting daily I reckon it amounts to 70% per 24hrs. Im bang...

    Defrosted blood worms

Try thawing out a few cubes, rinsing them then mixing them with ground up beefheart and spinach then re-freezing it in a flat slab (I just use a freezer bag) then break off however much you need whenever. Dont know whether beefheart or spinach is appropriate for your type of fish though.I make a...

    An idea!!!!

Perhaps a special ''aquarist testing centre'' where a practical examination can take place say..pupil is presented with a filled tank,a testing kit and given a list of symptoms displayed by an imaginary fish living within it.Pupil has to test the params and ''solve'' the problem be it...
