    Plants for beginners

Brad, What I know about plants? Bath them is a salt water bath before putting them in your tank. If not you will most likely get an infestation of snails. Thats no bueno. I am dealing with that right now. :banghead: Enjoy your tank! :band:

These guys do not appear to be eating any Trumpet Snails. I watched one roll right over the top of one and did not eat it. What should I do?:banghead::hide:

But a Master Test Kit. Look at the link. https://www.chewy.com/api-freshwater-aquarium-master-test/dp/121955 Stay on top of testing the water and doing water changes. :thumb: Unless you want snails taking over your tank, bath all plants in salt water before you put them in your tank. You...

    Strong smell

I would keep an eye on the parameters. As for the smell? I really don't know. Tanks have an aroma to them. Maybe someone else can steer you in the right direction. How long has your tank been re-assembled? I am curious what your tap water measures in Nitrates.

Tiger barb & Neon Tetras - HELP!

I advise you to get a Master Test Kit. It is the best way to stay on top of your water changes. Well for me it is.:hide: First thing to show up is ammonia Next is Nitrites Then finally Nitrates. Once Ammonia and Nitrites and to a minimum your tank is cycled...

    Strong smell

I recommend an ammonia test. If it's high you may need to do a water change. The problem is, you most likely wiped out your bacteria cleaning it like you did. I would not recommend you do that to your tank. Your substrate and filter house a good portion of your bacteria. Let's start from ground...

    Good News!

My tank is cycled! :band: Top Fin Bacteria Starter seemed to speed it up. Im not sponsored at all by Top Fin. Just sharing my 10 Gallon experience. I did a 25% water change daily from 2/27/21 to 3/20/21. I lost 2 of 16 fish. Not too bad. :fish1::fish2:

    Will this set up work?

I have a 10G tank too. I have 10 Neon Tetras, 3 Guppies and 2 Panda Cory Cats. They all seem fine. I lost one Guppy yesterday. As for equipment I have a Fluval Aqua Clear 30 power filter which is 150 GPH. And have a Tetra 30-60 Air Pump with an airline in both back corners of the tank with a...

I'm doing a fish less cycle and I am confused

I would not sweat the Ammonia. It will come down to zero soon enough. Its good you have Nitrites, your tank is cycling. But I would do water changes if you had fish. Really, I have never done a fishless cycle. :hide::band:

    Quick Survey - Cannister Filters

I was just looking at all of them. They all look solid. I don't have experience with either off those brands. I had a Fluval and it worked great, but that was years ago. I have a Fulval Aqua Clear for my 10g. It is a better build do to having media choices and no cartridge's. :fish1: Let us know...
