So, what exactly is happening here? I'm refering to the large protuberance on the right side. I assume this is the thingy they use to breath in air at the surface, but are they supposed to walk around the tank with it hanging out?

I'm a bit confused why the listed temperature for the Praecox Rainbow (Melanotaenia praecox) on liveaquaria.com is 64-72*F. The majority of other Rainbow fish species are listed as up to 77*F. My tank stays around 80*F, which the rest of the fish like. Is this too warm for the Rainbows? Thanks!
