I love cories, you should definately get some. They need to be kept in a minimum group of 3, but 6 is best, and with such a large tank, you could easily keep 6.

although one oto would clean a 10 gal in 3 days, I would recommend getting 2-3, I have 3 in my 10 gal, because they really enjoy the company. It just means that you'll need to put in some supplemental food once the algae is gone, such as algae wafers and/or zucchini.

I had the exact same thing happen with an aqua tech, and bought a new aqua clear 20. I never threw away the old filter, but maybe now I can fix it and convince my mom to get another 10 gal.

it's probably the 50% water changes weekly thats keeping it stable. doing smaller changes twice weekly would help prevent the buildup if you notice things are rising. also if you have any friends that can take a few fish that would be good.

yep. i found a shrimp pellet like that last time i did a gravel vac. it had gotten nudged under a bridge and the cories forgot about it.

another question, i keep reading about people using tap water, distilled water, or RO water. can you not use tap water with dechlorinator drops and then all of the salt mixing?
