    Aiptasia war

I have a 24 gal salt water reef aquarium, with several corals and a couple of fish. A few months ago I notice a glass anemone, and tried to zap it with store bought chemicals. Now I have two glass anemones. Next I tried a peppermint shrimp (if it is indeed a peppermint shrimp.) and have had...

    Good Pod, Bad Pod?

I may have answered part of my own question. I was looking up Isopods and I found a photo on a web site a creature that looks very similar to the photo I posted called a Stenetrium. Some web sites make them out to be algae eaters and others omnivore scavengers which would make sense.

    Jellyfish in my tank

I posted a photo a while back on the identification thread of what I thought might be some sort of Jelly fish, which was confirmed on this board. No one seemed to think that they were harmful an any way, and they never got any bigger due to the fact that the skimmer and filters killed them off...

    Good Pod, Bad Pod?

I found this guy on the glass and thought he was a copepod, but after looking at him under the microscope, I don't know what he is.

    Sea Urchins

Yeah, I figure it's from overfeeding, I have also stepped up my water changes from once a week to twice a week. I finally got a protein skimmer from "nanotuners" that fits in the compartment in the back of the Aquapod. It was either that or drill holes for a bulkhead and add a sump, but at...

    Sea Urchins

I have a 24Gal Aquapod with a lot of algae. I've cut down on feeding and reduced the light level and I have all kinds of snails which do a good job on an film algae, but I needed something to trim the algae that have become shrubs. I though about fish, but most herbivores are too big for the...

Red anemones are taking over the tank

I agree, that is a lot of Aptasia to handle by chemical means. Aptasia have potent stinging cells which make them a nusance in tanks. I remove the rock, soak it in fresh water, use Joe's Juce on those you can find, and buy a shrimp for those you can't see.

    Jellyfish Larva?

That's the fist thing I said to myself: "What the heck did I add recently", but the only thing I've added recently is salt water and fresh water makeup I got from my local tropical fish store. I noticed them when I had the pumps off during feeding, hopefully they were an exception and not a...

    Jellyfish Larva?

It swims like a jelly and it looks like a jelly but is it in fact a jelly? The photos are blown up quite a bit since it's about the size of the letter "O" in my tank. I have more photos at Weird Things In My Tank

    Gastropod???

My wife uses a Nikon D70 Digital camera with a 100mm macro and Nikon Speed light Flash. I'm using a Sony Alpha 100 DSLR with 50mm Macro Lens and Norman off camera strobe over the top of the tank. For the Microscopic shots I have a Sony DSC-W90 "point and shoot camera, A 1OOX Microscope, a 3/4...

    Gastropod???

Thanks for the I.D. It's hard to Google something like "slug like thing with shell" and come up with any useful information. Also thanks for fixing the picture link.

    Gastropod???

I found this critter on a rock and then roaming around on one of my button polyp corals. I took him out for this photo and dumped him back since he looked harmless. I figure he's some sort of Gastropod like a limpet, but his shell is a little small. He's more like a slug with a hat. I have...
