    CO2 Advice about diffusion

A little worried about that chemical mentioned in the thread called "glutaraldehyde". Anyone know of some health concerns? I imagine I would not be using the heavy dose, but is the lighter stuff not only safe for the fish but for me to clean the tank and dump down the drain? Otherwise, anyone...

    CO2 Advice about diffusion

Crud! I am kinda sold on this wet/dry for a few years. Looks like my lush planted aquarium dream will not be happening for quite some time. Any suggested alternatives for the setup I do have that will keep down algae and promote healthy growth?

    CO2 Advice about diffusion

how do you guys have your filtration? Canister? I guess I could always run the CO2 on its own line, maybe a black thin air tube down the back of the aquarium if that would help? If not let me know and perhaps I will ditch this CO2 idea of mine.

    CO2 Advice about diffusion

I have a 140 gallon aquarium with a wet/dry filtration/sump under my tank --- can I have the CO2 tapped in just the return line after the UV Sterilzer? I ask, because I like the look of uncluttered tanks and already have real estate issues both under and inside of the aquarium.

C02 tanks - How long until empty?

Hmm...sounds like the larger tank is the way to go. What's the cost of filling up a 10-20lb tank?

C02 tanks - How long until empty?

I was hoping a few of you that have the larger planted tanks could offer some info on how long your tank of C02 lasts for you size of aquarium? I have a 140 gallon aquarium and was hoping to re-use my 20oz paintball canister, but was unsure if the 2-5lb was a better route. So far I am thinking...

    Python!

The Python rocks....however, the only part that sucks on it is the white and green plastic turn valve "on and off switch". If your water pressure is high, it will crack and blow off the entire assembly and leave you hosing down the walls. This product has kept me in the aquarium hobby.

Anyone add on to their power cords?

My tank is pretty tall and I was trying to consolidate/keep tidy the number of wires going up the back channel of my tank. From what has been posted so far it sounds like everyone just opts for the extension cord. Thanks for settling my curiosity...

Anyone add on to their power cords?

I am looking to add a power head to my freshwater setup, however the power cord will never make it down to my power strip. Is it as simple as cutting one off near the plug, attach additional power cord and solder, use some electrical tape too keep everything non-explosive :D, and call it done...

Lightbulbs for planted african cichlid tank advice...

My tank is 140 Gallons 60x18x30 Flatback Hex. I would love to go fully planted, but that may end up being a lot of maintenance. Right now I am having trouble installing my UV Sterlizer due to plumbing/wet dry filtration under the tank, can't imagine how I would fit the CO2 setup down there.

Malawi Cichlid Tank> Can you put driftwood in?

I am consolidating tanks, and I have a nice chunk of driftwood that would be nice in my Malawi tank. Is this a bad idea? It would probably lower my ph, right? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

I lucked into a free 125ga Cichlid Tank, Need fish ID help

I agree on the Yellow Lab aka Yellow Electric. If you are planting anything, my now dead yellow electric used to rip my plants up a bit. Make sure to bury them and pile rocks up around the base to make it harder on the fish to remove your plant.

    Red Tailed Shark Advice

I have a 40 gallon tank that I am slowly moving the inhabitants over to the new 140 gallon tank. While in the 40 gallon, my red tailed shark was a punk and always harassing the other fish despite having 3 caves to hang out in. Now that I have the new 140 gallon tank, with a ton of room I am...

    Gnats in my Sump?

Has anyone else had an issue with little gnats laying eggs in the open end of their sump? I was cleaning my tank and just turned on the powerstrip to start everything up...I noticed a little worm-like white thing crawling on the surface of the water not to mention a lot of clear debris...

    Return line is producing bubbles?

How can the return line from my pump shoot bubbles into my tank. It's like I have an aerator stone or something. I checked the sump and its clear of bubbles and if there were they would have to make it through the sponge filter on my Mag 7. I also checked the connection on my vinyl tubing where...

How often do you clean your freshwater tanks?

I was curious as to how long you guys let your tanks go before you clean? I have a 140 gallon tank that uses a wet/dry sump. It's been running about 2 weeks, and has 4 fish in it. The filter pad above the bio media is getting a bit brown in the middle and I am unsure of the frequency of cleaning...

    Wet/Dry Filtration and Heater Settings

I just switched to a 180 TruFlo Wet/Dry Filtration and was looking forward to keeping my heater out of my tank and just have it heat the water in the sump as it passes back to the tank. However, setting the heater for 82degrees achieved a 90 degree temp in the tank? Is it standard to have to...
