    Black colored gravel and salt

    I bought black gravel for a new aquarium. I realized that are colored stones, and as much I clean it the water turns black always. How much could I clean it? It is good for a planted aquarium or I should use the regular light brown stones? Other question. It is the salt dangerous for plants...
