well both ponds feed into each other. there is a pump that pumps the water to the upper pond, then the upper pods trickles through a mini stream to the bottom. every time i walk by it there are atleast 15 frogs the yelp then jump in. once, we saw a full size bull frog eating a bird.... hahaha...
there are two ponds that are connected by a small stream in our back yard with black liner. the top pond is probably 7' in diameter and 3' deep and there is a 5' stream that feeds to the bottom pond which is maybe 8' in diameter and about 4' deep. there is a bed of pea gravel on the bottom...
good to note. the lfs around me are a little weird sometime their fish look amazing and sometimes they looks like they have been through hell. I think i may go with the atlantic blue because i think its a prettier fish, and i might be upgrading to a 125 in a year or so.
My tank has been cycled for about 2 weeks now and i plan on getting 2 smaller ocellaris clowns in about a week. Right now i have a small clean up crew... 9 hermits, 5 cerith snails and a skunk cleaner shrimp... I plan on getting another 1-2 cleaner shrimp and about 10 or so more snails along...
I've been reading a lot on triggers because i'm about to start a tank for a Picasso trigger... from what i have read, picasso triggers are the least aggressive species of triggers and they vary from individual to individual. You may have one that never pics on anyone, you may have one that...
RO/DI units attach to your house water line. They are only for water that you add to you tank. You usually set one up under a sink or to a house water line and use it to mix salt water and top off evaped water.
Are there any good HOB overflows? because I wanted to use a sump so i could put the heater, skimmer, more LR and maybe even a fuge for some macro algae. If i go with canisters, wouldnt i need an intank or HOB skimmer?
I am confused with sumps, i have a spare 20g long that i could convert to a sump, but what modifications would i have to do? Also, the wet/dry filters at pet stores with the blue bio balls... could those be used as sumps/fuges ?(taking out the bio balls of course) I am pretty good at DIY...
Ok, i have a 75 gallon tank right now and i want to set it up for a humu picasso triggerfish and a snowflake moray eel. I know any smaller fish and crustations would become food. i know it might be a small tank for these two fish, but i will probably upgrade when they get large. I have done...
my rainbows don't touch the plants... they will pick at algae growing in the java moss but never eat any plants. I did, however, have snails that ate plants.
the piece is huge, i had to buy a 35 gallon tub to soak it in... i could only pour boiling water on it. its not too bad, just a tint of yellow. and i already have java ferns/moss growing on it. its probably 28" long, 12" high and about 7" thick. it looks very nice :)
hmm, that sounds like it could be the problem... maybe i didnt see it at first because i change my filter carts and now the carbon is probably deactivated so the yellow is returning.
i have only had the new ones for about a week. They are fairly small, 2-2.5 inches. all my other rainbows are adults or close to full grown. they look really good. I have 3x28 full spectrum t-5 bulbs and 1x28 t-5 actinic bulb. i noticed when i added new lighting + the actinic, their colors...
I have a lightly planted tank with rainbow fish tanks, with a few other type of fish in it. I have some java moss, java ferns, and some cabomba that is not growing the best because i think i have insufficient light. I dose with excel and flourish potassium. i have a large piece of drift wood...
I have 6 boesmanis and 5 turquoise rainbows. the rainbows i have had for a while have really good coloration, almost as good as my LFS's display tank. anyways, i bought 3 more boesmanis because they were only $2.88(assorted rainbow tank sale.) They look healthy but their color is dull. I...
I think i am going to go with these fish:
Valencienna puellaris – Diamond watchman goby
x2 Amphiprion ocellaris – Ocellaris clowns
Amblygobius phalaena - Sleeper Banded Goby
Centropyge bispinosus - Coral Beauty Angelfish
Again, i still have about a year before i set up the tank, but i just like...
