    Is this a brittle star???

I think this is the case with me, too. I have had brittle stars in the past, so I know what they look like. I definitely have about 3 of them living inside of the rock and sticking their arms out when the lights go out. I think it is from when I bought the rock. There were about 10 brittle...

Yellow Tang - Not so yellow

My yellow tang had some yed marks that started on her nose/forehead and spread to the rest of her body. I started putting a few drops of zoe (liquid supliment in a bottle) on her nori before feeding, and upped her feeding and it went away. She is fine now. Check her out at...

    Sick Tang?

Mine had the same problem a few days ago. I started treating her food with Zoe and making sure she had enough to eat every day, and it has now gone away. I think it was just malnutrition. Might wanna try this one first before quarantiening her . . . HTH, Todd

    yellow tang acting strangely

Well, I got the Zoe and am using it. She seems to like it. But you can't see her anymore - she's in the show tank now. I got a 1.5" long baby regal tang in the quarantien tank now. Feel free to check her out. http://www.toddwess.com/fish.html :) Todd

Thanks Steve - I'll try that. Can you give me a good example of a fortified food? Just feeding nori right now. Thanks, Todd

    yellow tang acting strangely

She is also VERY RED along the point where her dorsal fin comes in contact with her body. Very red along the whole place where the fin comes in contact with the body. Anyone else have this redness? Does it go away? Thanks, Todd

I hope that's all it is. She is a little on the 'slow' side! :) I'll keep an eye on her . . . Thanks again! Todd

    yellow tang acting strangely

Can someone log into . . . http://www.toddwess.com/fish.html and watch my Yellow Tang for about 5 or 10 minutes and tell me if she is acting strangely? She just sits close to the top of the tank by the heater, and stays there for most of the day. She has been in quarantien for 17 days now...

    Yellow Tang with red splotch

But what do I put in it? Spirulina flakes or little pieces of nori? That is my big question - what do I feed her while I'm out? Thanks, Todd

    Yellow Tang with red splotch

Thanks for this, Kevin. I was afraid this is what it might be. I'm planning a trip out of town for 4 days and was trying to think of a way to feed her (Linda the Tang) while I was gone and that is why I tried out the Spirulna flakes. Any advice on how to feed a tang when you will be gone for...

    Yellow Tang with red splotch

I have a yellow tang in quarantien and tonight I noticed a red region on what I would call her forehead. It is the area above and between her two eyes. It looks sort of like a sunburn. Very red (the picture only hints at how red), but she is eating just fine. She has been in there for 11...

    Protien skimmer

My protien skimmer seems to do well for about a day, and then no more foam makes it over the top after that. It's been running for a week, and hasn't had any new foam (or removed any brown water) since the first day. I started it when I added 30 lbs of LR to my 40 gallon tank. I expected...

    Yellow Tang Question

I've just put my yellow tang in quarantien. You can check her out at . . . http://www.toddwess.com/fish.html (Lights come on at 10:30am - so you can't see her till then) My question - how often do I swap out her nori? I've been giving her a new piece every 24 hours, but was wondering what...

    cycle with shrimp

I took mine out after the tank had cycled and right before I added the first fish. Stank to high-heaven so be careful when you remove it. Gonna smell up the kitchen for a few hours. HTH, Todd

    New Live rock

I've got 30 lbs of LR coming in on Tuesday from liverocks.com I'm putting it in a tank that just finished cycling with 5" of live sand. Question: Do I just plop the rock in the tank and let it cycle, or should I sit in a fresh water bath first? I've heard that some folks do this to get rid...

    Finishing Cycling

I've just finished cycling my 40 gallon tank with a raw shrimp. I'm going to add 30 lbs of LR on Tuesday. Question - when do I turn on the protien skimmer and lights? I'm assuming that I should wait until the rock have cycled, and parameters are back to normal. Thoughts? Thanks, Todd

    Sick Red Platty?

I think you're right - thanks for the link to the site. This Kanacyn - have you used it? Are there any precautions. I think this fish is a lost cause, but I'm worried about the other's catching it. They show no signs at the moment. Thanks, Todd

    Fighting Clowns

Thanks guys - they have been in there for 3 weeks cuz EVERYONE on here says that fish need to be quarantiened for at least 4 weeks. they are a new acquisition, yes, Melissfish. they are all eating well and seem to be fine, just worried about the fighting. The display tank will be ready in...

    Sick Red Platty?

I bought two red platties about 4 months ago. Lately, one of them is starting to shrink. She has gotten smaller and smaller. Additionally, her body is starting to look 'bent'. If you were to make a line across her body with your finger from mouth to tail-fin, it would be a straight line...

    Fighting Clowns

I have three 3/4" percula clowns in a 10 gallon quarantien tank. They have been in there for 3 weeks. Perfect health the whole time. http://www.toddwess.com/todd.html Lately, two of them have really started picking on the third. They are pecking at him every chance they get. Additionally...
