Need ID, polyp-looking thing and strange orange worms

I knew I'd seen those somewhere...majano. That's so weird. Started the tank in Feb 04, moved it june 05, and here it is March 06 and these are the first I've seen in it ever. Recommended termination procedured? Kalk injection?

Need ID, polyp-looking thing and strange orange worms

I noticed 2 of these polyps, both coming out right at the base of the roakc where it meets the sand. I've never ever seen them before and I have no idea what they are. There's a pic of them in photo2 and photo 3. The strange orange worms are all over the place. Sand, LR, everywhere. They have a...

looking to setup a 120 w/ closed loop - suggestions?

I have done that. Provided it's not the only source of flow, it works well. It's a nice supplement. I have a spray bar along the bottom, on the sand in the back, and other outlets hiding in the rockwork to create flow currents.

Ok this is getting old :(

If phos is low, it'll still happen. Mine is at .1 (or .01, I forget which that stupid scale is) and I still get them. I recently added a second DI chamber after the first one, and it's now completely eliminated the phos coming out of the ro/di. Even if it's low, it'll occur.

My very first LPS coral (pic)

They will get bigger and branch. My torch (relative) started with 7 "heads" on it and it has ended up with 11 now so far. Best of luck! It looks nice. :) [whoops, double-post]

    Potential DIY tank ideas.

I'm brainstorming, figuring out what I'd best want, etc, etc. So here it is. I want acrylic. GARF says 1/2" acrylic. Think this is sufficient? Anyways, this is the plan. It will be in a corner wall, ideally in a living room arrangement. Plumbing will go down into the basement. The dark blue...

    Skinny BTA

Round up to 30, and (I know the watts/gal rule isn't a good one, but it's a starter) you have roughly 2 watts/gal. (2.16) I'd say another 65w PC wouldn't hurt you in the least. If you have the funds, I'd go for it.

    Noisy XP3 Filter

Ditto on what malkore said. Also, with the Fluval 404, it doesn't auto-prime. So make sure you get to it if the power goes out, or it will usually burn out.

NEW 125Gallon Coming HOME Friday! (UPDATE PICS!!!!!)

In a 125, I'm not sure how the clowns will do. You might get away with it. I introduced 2 of them at the same time, and they stayed on opposite ends of the tank, and only occasionally came over to one another. When they did, they weren't aggressive either. I'd ditch the damsel and trade in for...

    Skinny BTA

How big is the tank? I think one 65w sounds a little low for a BTA. But it would depend on the tank size.

This probably isn't the case for all situations, but when was the last time you changed your bulbs? If they're too old, they will not give off the necessary spectrum anymore, even if they do light just fine.

    Skinny BTA

It takes a lot of energy to split, so that's probably why it looked a bit diminished. It might take it a little time to get back to its full glory. Also, conditions might not be as favorable in its new home as it originally was a year ago. Just some thoughts, I'm not really sure.

    why is the glass bending?

It should not bend noticably. Does it have a center support brace? Most 55gallons I have seen are 4' long and have a plastic brace going from front-to-back on top. Without this, it might be very very unstable.

    frogspawn coral

Frogspawn are like torch coral. My torch, which underwent massive growth, was placed at mid-level to the side of a 250w MH in light-moderate flow. The torch didn't like its arms being blasted around by the current, but a very gentle swaying action. I'd assume somewhat similar conditions for a...
