Just noticed a few new worms. ID please

Hi I have just noticed these tonight. They are on several rocks and are no bigger than a quarter to half inch. I have no clue as to what they are. Any ideas? Thanks.

The actual depth of the tank is 22" to my sand bed, but I am figuring a fudge factor of a few more inches if I get a light with "feet" that hold it above the rim of the tank. I thought it is lumens rather than watts that is the deciding factor in lighting needs? I plan on keeping corals with...

Hi guys! It's been a while since I've posted, but I have a question. My tank is now 6 mos. old, and I have the overwhelming urge to add a bulb tip anemone to host my Clowns. I have a 45 gallon high and need good depth penetration. I am shying away from the cost and heat output of MH and wanted...

    ID Please

Thanks for the info. It's so fascinating seeing what appears on the rock each day. The upper most rock sits in a pocket on the other rocks, and is in fact leaning against the back glass. I had it all freestanding at one point, but have since leaned the top rock back for safety reasons.

    ID Please

Hi Guys My tank has really started to come to life now. I hope you all can ID a few things for me. The first is the white puffy looking item that the crab is just about to crawl on. It appears to be some sort of sponge(?). The second is the brownish "blob" looking item on the left of the rock...

    Cleaning live rock twice?

Hello In trying to get rid of the previously mentioned white silky strings, is it a good idea to take out and clean my LR again? Would I be doing more harm than good to anything that may be establishing itself in the rock?

    White silky looking strings

Thanks for that link. Looks like all kinds of good info. So here is a question. Should I take out the rock and scrub it again? If I do, am I doing more harm than good to anything else inhabiting the rock? I am just starting to get some good purple and green coraline on them. I wouldn't want to...

    White silky looking strings

The rock was uncured, but had been in the LFS for a few weeks in their holding tank which is approx. 400 gallons. Under the advice of the LFS guy, I cycled my tank with the LR and LS. I brushed the rock and rinsed in SW before adding it to the tank. I got recordings as high as 2.0 Ammo and 5.0...

    White silky looking strings

Hi All I need some more advice. My tank is going on 3 weeks old. I have added 2 False Perc Clowns and they are doing great.I have a question though. About 2 days ago, I started noticing these silky white very thin strings floating in the water. They are now multiplying like no ones business...

Ok here is my first question

No lid on the tank. I know one will raise my PH, but wouldn't that affect my oxygenation? It seems like a catch 22. I know the SG is also a bit low, but I was going to wait for a water change before raising it. Would that be acceptable? Thanks for the advice.

Hi All As posted before, this is my first try @ salt. I have a few questions I'm sure you have heard a million times, but please bare with me. My info is as follows. 45 gallon with 60 lbs LS and 55 lbs uncured LR Marineland Biowheel 350 Marineland 1140 300GPH powerhead Whisper heaterMy tank...

What a difference 24 hrs makes

I will add one fish to the tank directly on the advice of my LFS guy who I trust. He has been doing salt setups for over 16 years. Anything else will definately be staying in the QT for a few weeks though.

What a difference 24 hrs makes

Thanks! I must have sifted through a ton of rock at the LFS before I found these pieces. I fitted them together before I bought them because I wanted it all freestanding in the tank without touching the glass. I fell in love with a Powder Brown Tang while I was waiting for the guy to pack up the...
