Large Acrylic Tanks - Who makes em?

Tenecor is a large manufacturer. I believe there are others as well. Tenecor sells tank systems complete, as well

    Microbubble Nightmare

I think that if you are seeing MBs the issue is that you are pulling air into the pump. Now unless you have a leak in the system, the other explanation is that your input to the pump is not adequate enough to support the output. So there is a strong enough vacuum for the pump to pull more...

    TDS?

I have a six stage: 10 micron - 5 micron - 1 micron - membrane - carbon block - DI cartridge. I get about 205 out of the tap and about 5ppm RO. My DI is shot because I am getting the same TDS out of the DI cartridge. Just changed all of the pre-filters as my pressure had gotten really bad...

    R/O membrane.

You really should use a TDS meter to detemine if in fact your DI cartridge needs replacing/recharging. Also depending on your R/O system, you should have pre-filters before the water hits the membrane. This would go a far way towards preserving the life of the membrane itself. HTH

    aerating mixed SW

I have a Maxijet PH and a heater in my holding tank. I keep about 27G of water mixed and ready to use. The PH keeps it nicely 'stirred.' 8)

    Acclimation

I use a dip routinely for all new stock (fish). I also use Methylene blue in my dip water as a treatment for external parasites. It is very safe for all fish types and has the added benefit of being high in dissolved oxygen to help with fish stress, plus it is very dark, so this also offers...

    Sump question

I am not sure how you would accomplish not breaking siphon in an overflow tube return. Maybe someone who has this set-up and has licked this issue can respond :?: One design that I know that elimiates the problem is the use of an overflow box. This is usually installed in-tank (usually in...

    lightin question metal halide fixtures

Just need to be sure that the ballast for these commercial MH units can fire up the marine bulbs. Some of them are pulse start so you may need an electronic ballast to fire them up. Other than that, as long as the wattage is the same, it should work. Let me know if you decide to pursue this...

New Aquarium Lighting -- Live Rock

Your lighting requirements should be determined based on what kind of tank you want to keep. FOWLR, Reef, FO etc. If you could supply some more information, including the dimensions of your tank and what you plan to put in it, we can advise accordingly. HTH

    Naso Tang

:) I don't think that the name spot will hold for too much longer. That was about the size of mine when I acquired her. as far as sexing the tang, I think that is not too easy to do, even with grown fish. I don't have the answer for you but it should not be a problem unless you wanted to...

    GFCIs and Lighting Safety

Will depend on how much of what kind of lights you are planning to get and also how you plan to set up the lighting over your tank, hood, canopy, suspended etc. these all factor in how the heat is dissapated. If hood, choice of materials will matter. You may need one or more cooling fans to...

    metal halide ballast question

I am not sure that would be a good idea. Knowing that the bulb is rated at 175W, if you a 250W ballast to drive it, this may overdrive the bulb, potentially shorten the life of the bulb and may even do some damage to the ballast if electronic. Best advice I can give you is to check with the...

Just got live rock need help!

I agree with Jaiden. Cycle the LR outside the tank then add to avoid stressing out your livestock once again with a cycle.

    dsb depth

Your thinking is correct int terms of the depth. There is a neat little calculator on this site (see above)that will tell you how much sand you need. As to whether they are crash prone, there are some opinions here that talk about that and some information (do a search) on that topic...

    LR pooping? please help!!!

Could be the work of one of more boring worms and the brown stuff is their ejection of their drilling efforts. Many times I see puffs of brown stuff coming from the LR, but I know that it is just the worms at work.

    Feather Duster? Tube Worm?

I have tons of those on my LR. They are tiny feather dusters and fairly common on LR, at least the fiji ones. HTH

    odd????

I would guess you are seeing a mini cycle, as you suspect from some die off in the LR. Before you add any livestock, I would make sure you run a full cycle on the tank. Cheers!

    Naso Tang

Have had one now for just about 1 year. Since that time she has doubled in size and is now about 7". Beautiful fish, sometimes shy, always very friendly. I have seen her swim into the middle of a fight just to break it up. Very active, so the tank you have should keep it as happy as a lark...
