I have sand right now in my 55 gal and with live plants i have to go and stir it up every 2 weeks because the plants roots cant get through it and start growing up out of the sand. Also each plant needs its own root tab to help prevent the roots from gorwing up. Looks great though.

Yea itll take time for him to come out of his shell from the move. They can be very stubborn animals. Once he comes out then youll have a fish that is very active and will come to you when hes hungry.

I would say toxins from the plastic pool liner. The best way to get rid of them is ot fill and drain it a few times.

I rarely moved my decorations when gravel vacing with gravel. As for sand looking nicer it dose look alot nicer when its clean but it gets messy really quickly. I love my sand though. I just went from doing one gravel vac and water change a week to doing 2.

I have sand in my Piranha tank. The Piranha crap was easy to vac up. I decided to put a Red Taild Catfish in there and his crap is so heavy it wont vac off the sand. I have to use a net to get it out of the tank. My Oscars was the same way as the catfish.
