Tell me what you think of my plan! Rough Sketch included!

So do you think it would be better to just have the sea swirl as my full return and do away with the PVC T in the center of the tank, then get 2 larger powerheads for more flow??

Tell me what you think of my plan! Rough Sketch included!

It's a 125, I think the pump is 800 and not sure on the powerheads, I think they are maxijet 250's?? Does that sound right?? Also if I drill a hole beolw the return level on my return which is a T out of PVC then the water level will already be below the pickup protion stopping the siphon anyway

Tell me what you think of my plan! Rough Sketch included!

How would that hole prevent flooding?? Also I run 2 maxijet powerheads and use a sea swirl as 1 return for more circulation. I already have a pump I use for clean saltwater, just forgot to add it in the pic. It's just a small pump.

Tell me what you think of my plan! Rough Sketch included!

Here is my plan for my RO unit, topoff's and PWC's. All comments appreciated. All valves are solenoid controlled and entire system will be controlled by PLC. Only manual valves are for flow adjustment. Thanks in advance!! Filling RO Tanks Water will come from RO unit into RO only tank. When...

    Setting up automatic PWC's

I was wondering because I have never had any suck vacuuming the sand bed. It always sucks up into the tube and won't fall out. I figured it would be best to just leave it alone. I can see the rocks though.

    Setting up automatic PWC's

Do you just vacuum off the very top of the sand or do you do like in a freshwater tank and actually vacuum down in the sand??

    New frags from Ziggy

About what would it cost for a variety like that?

    MH reflector

i already have the bases and boxes for the wiring. They are working and there is a white piece of metal behind them, that's what I'm trying to get rid of. I just need to know what material to make them out of so I can make some. I won't just put a flat piece of aluminum behing the lights, I...

    New frags from Ziggy

Well i will definitely be talking to you once I get everything set up and running!! I would love to have a nice variety of corals

    MH reflector

I don't see where it says that a homemade reflector is uselsee, the only thing i saw was where he says "As can be clearly seen from the data, having any of the above mentioned reflectors is better than just having a painted hood." <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><FONT face="Times New...

    New frags from Ziggy

Thanks ziggy. Do you sell frags?? I am still in the process of setting up my 125 but when I get it up and running I would definitely be interested in some frags to keep from having to spend so much money trying to get a little varitey in the tank!!

    MH reflector

I have access to a shear and a brake. I just needed to really know what they were made out of. I might just be able to get my hands on some sheet aluminum too!! Thanks T&S

How long does it take for frags like that to really grow into a decent size coral??

    Setting up automatic PWC's

The only thing that i'm depinding solely on a timer will be leaving the valve open from the waste flow. It's won't be exact, i just wanna give it time to empty the hose. The rest will be using timers with float switches to monitor levels. Also the only place that I will need to monitor how...

    Setting up automatic PWC's

I want to have a y on the overflow to sump line. 1 to the sump, 1 to waste. The valves will be operated by the PLC. When it's water change time I will have the waste valve open and the sump valve close, the return pump will run until it trips a low level float and that will kill the pump. Then...

    Berlin Skimmer

Well thats not what I was hoping to hear but that seems to be the general consensus. I guess I will try to use this one till I get everything set up and running then get something different before I go with any types of corals.

    Setting up automatic PWC's

Yeah, I am going to be using solenoid valves. I work in industrial maintenance and am pursuing a career in engineering and think this is gonna be a very fun project!! Can't wait to really get the ball rolling.

    Setting up automatic PWC's

I am in the processing of designing and building a set up for automatic PWC's. I want to get this to where the only things I have to do are have the saltwater mixed and flip a switch and push a button. This will all be controlled by a PLC setup in the basement. My only problem is how to get...

    Berlin Skimmer

I bought a used 125 salt about a year or so ago. I didn't know much about saltwater at the time and set everything up like I thought it should be. Needless to say it wasn't right. Now I have moved so I had to take it down but my question is can someone give me some advice on my skimmer. I...

    125 reef build

I just wanted to tell you that you have an awesome setup!! I was looking at your thread and seeing your sump in the basement was awesome!! That solved all my problems for auto topoff's and PWC's!! I have been trying to figure out how to get the pumps I need to run everything up into the main...

I have had several people mention TSC ziggy. I have one I drive by everyday on the way to work. I will have to get in there and see what they have to offer. thanks

    Ro/di

Thanks innovator. That's exactly what I would love to have just not that much$$. I am thinking about using 2 plastic 55 gallon barrels and leaving 1 for salt water and 1 for just ro for top offs. I will just have to see what I can come up with.

    Ro/di

How do you fill your bucket?? I thought my RO unit would be electrically controlled so I just planned on using a timer to turn it on and off and 5 gallons wouldn't be a problem, but with you having to shut off the flow of water then you get into valves and float switches so I want to be able to...

    Ro/di

I have thought about like a livestock trough. I also thought about trying to get 2 plastic 55 gallon barrels and plumbing them together with bulkheads to make 1 big container, but I don't know where to get them new. What is everyone else using??
