The first thing that comes to my mind after reading your post is that your tank is not "cycled". You said it has only been up and running for three weeks and the fish have been in for two, so you are basically cycling the tank with fish? Is there anyway you can take the dwarf frogs and cories...

I use the API (Aquariuam Pharmacueticals Institute) master test kit for freshwater. I am not sure if you can find them in Australia, but test kits similar to the API would be preferred over the paper test strips. HTH! :)

Your parameters seem fine. Again, how many angels did you add? My angels go to the top occasionally and are especially active at the top while feeding but they don't just hang out at the top "sucking air". How long has tank been set up, again? By your signature, it doesn't seem like the tank...

Hi Dean and welcome to AA! It does sound like you are going through another cycle. Your biggest "carriers" of the bacteria were your filter/filter media and gravel and both were either cleaned or removed, so I would definitely think you are going through another cycle. I would recommend Prime...

Is this in the 60g tank? Did you check your water parameters? How many angels did you add? You might be having an ammonia spike that is making it hard for them.

She needs to do whatever size change brings the nitrite down to safe levels for the fish...25% may not do it. That is the point I was trying to stress to her.

Oh funny....I was so taken with the "don't change water comment" that I completely missed that....disagree with that too. Unless you have an extremely heavily planted tank. I have done a silent cycle with a heavily planted tank before and it worked fine, but I always suggest fishless cycling...

I also don't go in much at night....too tired. Anytime I've tried during day, no one there :(

Yeah, probably will...lol. Changing water does not restart cycle as the bacteria are not in the water they are in/on filter media and substrate. I STILL suggest doing a big water change to get those levels down...there's no other way around it. Wish there were. :)

Well, I hope daily isn't bad. I have been placing one small to medium piece of red leaf lettuce in their tank the last three days and securing with a veggie clip. They just love it!

I did try it and both my angels LOVED the lettuce! It cracked me up watching them tear into it! How often should they be fed the lettuce? Is it okay to give it to them daily?

That's what I was going to suggest also...sounds like it might just have been air bubbles from the filter creating splash.

What size tank are they in and how often do you perform water changes? Also, do you have a freshwater test kit (I recommend the API brand). I would perform a 50% water change with dechlorinated water and see if that helps first.
