Thanks for pointing that out Regen. And also the point about not feeding them.
Like I mentioned, I had first turned on the air stone, and put the filter and power head at the surface. Within 15 to 30 minutes the fish seemed better. I then did the PWC, and the fish now seem back to normal as...
Thanks - I'll do the water change right now. I hesitated to do the water change because of oxygen. I was not sure if the tap water would have less oxygen, and therefore the PWC might be a bad thing assuming that I only have an oxygen problem.
Would you guess the problem is a mini-cycle, or are...
Sorry - I didn't give enough background.
I bought the tank used, it had been setup for years prior. I moved approx 25 gallons of water with the tank, and kept the canister wet during the move (it took about 4 hrs).
I clean the sponges in running water (I since read that you should use tank...
Tank is 55 gallon, I have 11 fish; angel fish, severums, corys, flying fox, pleco.
I have a fluval 304, I adjusted it so the intake is above the water now. I have one power head as well.
Anyone there? I have a fish emergency. All my fish are laying on the bottom breathing very slowly. I started an air stone. Not sure what else to do. I don't have a test kit, temp looks fine (78F). I have the tank for only a week, moved a lot of water with it, fish have been fine and active.
No...
The cost of the water. Ignoring costs of heating the water.
Here in Ottawa, Ontario I pay 0.868 per meter cubed of water.
1 (meter cubed) = 264.172052 US gallons
Assume two 50% water changes per week, 55 gallons per week.
55 gallons * 52 weeks = 2860 gallons
2860 / 264.17 = 10.826 m^3 *...
Oh - by the way when I moved the tank I brought 6 6 gallon pails from a wine making store with lids, filled them all the way up with water from the tank, and moved them along with the tank.
Thanks for the reply marchmaxima.

I'm responding to myself;
I've found some threads on this topic;

Sounds like I need an egg crate, not a glass top.
Now, just need to figure out what exactly is an egg crate in the context of aquariums.
A very kind thanks for all of the responses.
As was suggested by all responses, I went ahead with the 55 gallon tank. Everything is installed and running smoothly - of course my mind is now filled with questions.
This is the lighting stand that I have:

I've had 10 gallon tanks in the past, but now would like to try growing plants (I saw the beautiful Takashi Amano pictures in the book Aquarium Plant Paradise).
I am considering buying a used 55 gal Hagen tank and stand that includes Fluval 304 and 48" 2x65W coralife lighting, and heater and...
