Thanks again for the information. How do you 'rinse' the frozen food? I have cubes that fall apart as they thaw out. I would think I would need to put it through a filter to get out the juice and very small particles.? I do use nori on a clip a couple of times a week for my tangs. Willem

Why is flake food so bad? Wouldn't frozen food bring in just as much po4 as flake? Willem

    Filtration

That is a good point. I have 5 fish: a yellow tang, hippo tang, striped hawkfish, purple pseudochromis, and a clownfish. I light the sump at night when the main light is off and I have very little hair algae in the main tank. There are a couple of places that don't get any flow that seem to...

I don't know the cause at this time. I do have a lot of algae growing on my glass, i.e. I have to clean the glass every couple of days. Could that be part of the cause? Also, I have a lot of hair algae growing in my sump on top of my macro algae and it seems to collect detrious. I try and...

    Filtration

Thank you for the reply. My phosphates are very low. My RO/DI does a great job with this. I learned the hard way that I need good water coming in. I am confused about the role of GAC. I thought this would removed dissolved molecules that give the water color. I never thought of it as a...

Good questions. I didn't supply much information. I do use RO/DI water and my system is a 90 gallon reef tank with a lot of live rock and a shallow sand bed in the aquarium. I have a deep sand bed with macro algae in the refugium. I have used activated carbon in the past, but that is more...

I am unhappy with the clarity of the water in my tank. It has many small particles in it even when there hasn't been any disruptions as during a water change etc. Recently I went to an aquarium store where the water was exceptionally clear and the owner told me that his trick was he used...

    Bright Red Worm?

Thank you! :) I came up with this link. I didn't notice any legs which the top two pictures seem to have, but I will check again to see if I may have missed them somehow. awillemd1 http://mangrove.nus.edu.sg/pub/seashore/text/126.htm

    Bright Red Worm?

I will see what I can do about getting a better picture. One thing I noticed that I think must be related to what species he is, is that I could see little light and dark rings as he moved from the rock back into the sand. Also, I think he has tufts of feelers either on his head or his tail...

    Bright Red Worm?

Thank you! I apologize for the picture. I don't have a very good digital camera. I forgot to add a few observations. These worms spend all their time under the sand. I caught the one in the picture with a coat hanger and I was able to place him on a rock. They don't seem to have bristles...

    Sebae Clown and Rock Anemone

I have been out of town a lot lately, but I see now what is happening. My purple pseudochromis has pinned him into the corner of the tank. Everytime he tries to move about he gets chased back into the corner. I had purchased a firefish along with him to help distract the territorial fish in...

    Sebae Clown and Rock Anemone

About two weeks ago I purchased a Sebae Clown along with a Rock Anemone that was hosting him at the lfs. Unfortunately, when I brought them home the Clown went to the corner of my tank where the overflow is and just hangs out there all the time. The anemone seems to have settled into a...

    Conch Question

I purchased a Conch about 4 months ago and he quickly disappeared. I purchased him to help stir up my 2-3 inch sand bed. I assumed he had died, however, last night he suddenly appeared again. He seemed to rise out of the sand while I was feeding my fish. Do Conchs live under the sand? ...

Question regarding Green Star Polyps and Kenya Trees

Thanks. Can someone reply and let me know what a Kenya Tree does to reproduce? Does it just start another stem at the base of the ones that are already there? Thanks in advance. awillemd1

Question regarding Green Star Polyps and Kenya Trees

Sorry, I wasn't clear on my point. What I meant to say was after I have removed the Keyna trees, could I put them in a new location and set a rock on their base to hold them in place hoping that after a few days they would re-attach on their own? I am a little nervous about using super glue...

Question regarding Green Star Polyps and Kenya Trees

Really. I didn't know that would work. I guess you are saying you can use superglue under water. Is this standard off the shelf Super Glue? Thanks. awillemd1

Question regarding Green Star Polyps and Kenya Trees

I purchased a piece of live rock with two stems of Kenya tree and a small mat of Green Star Polyps. The Green Star Polyps are starting to cover the entire live rock and I am worried that they may be able to kill the Kenya Tree. My questions are: 1) should I be trimming the Green Star Polyps...
