    Mike's new "used" frag tank

It's not bad at all. I have the 4MDQX-SC and it has two places to oil it. I have heard that the pumps without the oil holes are louder.

    RO/DI water

This unit sounds like a regular drinking water unit. I say that because there is a carbon stage after the DI resin. For aquarium water you don't need the last carbon stage, this is used to help with the taste of RO/DI water for drinking. Are you getting a dual TDS meter? Dual meter are...

    RO/DI water

No, you shouldn't need dechlorine in RO/DI water. The salt mix will add all your trace minerals. You might want to check if your city water is cleaned with chlorine or chloramines. With chloramines you might want to have a carbon prefilter. I don't think alot of places use the chloramines...

Finished my DIY Sump/Refugium. Need some feedback

OK, got to ask what is the blue line and valve for? With your drains like that wouldn't it cause alot of back pressure?

Finished my DIY Sump/Refugium. Need some feedback

Just from reading: Straight siphon you have a full siphon effect and I think that they are louder. HOB overflows use these but they are slowed down by U tube or passage. Please if someone has used this method I would like to hear about it too.

Finished my DIY Sump/Refugium. Need some feedback

Like you stated without the bubble trap yours would have had a long fall to the return section. Mine is only a 3 inch fall to my return section. The distance is what causes those bubbles.

When to change the DI filter

A dual meter that has a probe before and after DI is about $30 and a pen style is about $20. IMAO the dual meter is the way to go. I look at it like that is the cost of a nice frag and I know for sure what is going in my tank. Just my opinion.

Finished my DIY Sump/Refugium. Need some feedback

That is what its for. Should stop any microalgae from flowing out of your fuge. BLACK 2' x 2' Squares of Egg crate Bulk Reef Supply It is a little higher then regular egg crate, but if you order anything else from BRS it is a nice pickup. With slower flow rate going into fuge and a 90...

When to change the DI filter

Do you have a TDS meter hooked to it? If you don't I would probaly change it when it reaches about 75-80% like you said.

    Is there a ro/di test

Only if you can come up with a TDS meter. "Total Dissolved Solids" If you are in a Reef Club I am sure that someone will have one. They aren't real expensive if you wanted to buy one "pen type", mine was about $20.00
