I think most of the bacteria is in the filter. Only a tiny bit will be in the gravel so it shouldn't affect it too much. Good luck.

If you want to keep dwarf puffers in a community tank you have to keep them fed with blook worm otherwise they will become nippy. It's probably a good idea not to put them in with anything they will outgrow or equal in size. Don't know too much about them though. Good luck.

I did this a while ago. I simply started introducing the new conditioner through water changes. I don't think you will have any problems.

You should be changing 25% of the water once a week to remove nitrates from the water. Otherwise the fish are more likely to be stressed and get diseases. Also feed your pleco with a sinking tablet food (like hikari algae wafers). You only need to throw one in every 3rd day and do it at night...

so how many smaller size cichlids (5"-6") would you recommened I put in the tank to fully stock or overcrowd?

Yeah. I asked this question a while ago on here and somebody said about 6 small cichlids should be ok. But some people say that overcrowding leads to less aggression. It's quite confusing.

ok sorry I messed that up a bit. I have a 33 Gal at the moment and got an empty 27 Gal. i was putting everything but the pleco into the 27 Gal and adding cichlids to the 33 gal. Will all those fish plus the Pleco be ok in the tank or will the tank be overcrowded?

Not sure yet. Maybe some Yellow Lab's, Kenyi and Kribs. Nothing that gets too big basically.

why not try having your lights on for less time? My tank went green at one point. It was all over the rocks and on the plants. I started switching hte lights on at about 4 in teh afternoon when I got in and switched them off at about 10. It soon cleared up. Good luck.

Nah. It isn;t a new tank. My levels are fine. The water isn;t cloudy. It is crystal clear in my opinion. But it looks like a haze is being created. I thought it was more to do with the lighting and maybe the fact that my background is on the outside of the glass causing a reflection. :(
