    Tank lighting

You would probably be better off in the end if you went with halides on the 135. They are more expensive, but with the depth of the tank, halides would be about the only thing that would penatrate to the bottom. For your twenty gallon, you will need to buy new ballasts and bulbs and probably...

What in the blazes is this?

If the front half of it appears to be a shell, it may be a stomatella snail. they are a shell-less snail.

    Sick Polyps :(

One thing, you may want to bump your salinity up to 1.0245-1.025 over several days. Temp is not too high, my tank runs at 81.4-82.2 all the time. HTH

    Looking for soem PCs

I have had the jebo for about eight months now. Still going strong. I am currently looking for replacement bulbs, but am having a hard time paying as much if not more for bulbs than I did the fixture. I realize the quality of the bulb may be low, but I am have success with a toadstool, some...

    Glue for sump

Where did you get the acrylic for the baffles? Does Home depot have it and can it be bought in small pieces? Thanks.

Advice on propsed live rock quantity ?

Sounds like a good amount to me. I currently have ~65 lbs in my 55. So, double that and you have almost your tank. I have had a few things (crabs mostly, no fish yet, knock on wood) die and haven't seen any adverse effects. You will definitely have a variety of rock. Out of curiosity, where...

    404 as Sump Pump

I am working on getting a sump setup on my 55 and I bought a GEN-X Mak 4. I can bet you I will have a lot of flow (~1100GPH at 4ft head).

    Lighting Suggestions?

It depends on what kind of look you are going for. The 10K buld should be a white color. The 6500k bulb will probably be a whitish/yellow tinted color and the 20k bulb will most likely be blue tinted. If I were you (I am not and this is my preference) I would go with a 10k with the pc...

    Bubbles! Bubbles!

If you have bubbles accumulating on your rock, you might consider adding a powerhead or two. HTH

    Im a newb...

If you have sufficient live rock, it acts like your filter, so you don't have to use mechanical filtration. I would stick with the powerheads because you don't want stagnant areas in your water. What I have right now in my 55 gal is four powerheads and a HOB filter that has carbon in it 24/7...

    Bubbles

I am still not convinced. I think any reef tank properly set up should see no downside to bubbles. I do agree that bubbles can hurt things if there isn't enough flow in the tank, like the ocean. But you would have an entirely bigger problem than a few bubbles, so the bubbles become arbitrary...

    Bubbles

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=364601&highlight=bubbles Thought you guys might disagree, so, here you go. You should think about one thing. Corals live in the ocean. Oceans can have a lot of bubbles in it. Now, if corals were hurt from these bubbles, don't you...

where to find cheap aquarium stand?

If you want super cheap and you like to DIY, you could build one that is sturdier than anything you will buy and will cost less. Check out garf.com for some good stand scematics, I used them to build a stand for my 135. They even give you a cut list so you know what length and how many boards...

    Invert and Coral Problom

I would rule out the metal for sure because most shrimp are intolerant to metal, just like coral and snails. You might want to check your calcium and alkalinity levels. HTH

    Bubbles

I do not want to try to stir anything, but anemoneman is incorrect about the bubble situation you are having. I, too, have bubbles, not large ones, but microbubbles and I was concerned about it as well. So, I did some research and found that, although the bubbles may be ugly, they do not harm...

    Upgrading lighting

I have that setup on my 55 right now. It is a good deal. I haven't had any problems with it for six months now. One thing though, the way the bulbs are connected is cheap, just plugs on each prong, but still effective. I personally thought that the actnic were a little too blue, but it is my...

    Cloudy Water

It will probably take a few days since you added the sand after the water. I tried what fishfreek recommended and put sand in first and then put a trash bag or a plate on the sand and started filling. I could see clearly in less than a day. No big deal though, it will just take a little...

    Orange star

You can target feed if you want. I do this with my red serpent and it is really neat to watch him curl his leg around my finger to get the food. I usually feed him krill. I don't do this very often because he isn't keen on the light.
