    What is your stock list?

They are dark yellow. Cute little buggers. Technically I have three since they just had a baby. He is pretty small but has been surviving for a couple of weeks now. No one has eaten him!!

    PH & Tank Size

Hello B! Yeah, all the fish are fine and I'm not concerned about altering the PH. I was just curious if tank size had anything to do with it. I use tap water. The 55 does have a small piece of driftwood but it was 6.8 before I added the driftwood. The other two tanks have fake plants in...

How long to leave vegies in tank...

I've kind of been wondering this myself. I have 2 BN Plecos and I place a slice of Zuchinni and after 24 hours it is mostly eaten so I remove it. Never had any water quality problems doing this.

    PH & Tank Size

I was wondering, does the size of the tank affect the PH? I have three tanks. 55G Tropical, 20G Goldfish and 3G Betta. The source of the water is the same for all three. The 55 is planted but the others are not. The PH on the 55 is always at 6.8, the 20 at 7.0 and the 3 at 7.2. The...

Sick Goldfish - Floats to the top!

Thanks guys. Good info. I think he may be sucking up a lot of air. Every day when I feed him, just when I open the hood he is already freaking out sucking at the top waiting for the food to drop in. Greedy little punk :) I think I will fast him for a couple of days and then just feed some...

Sick Goldfish - Floats to the top!

Crap! That link describes exactly what my fish is doing. I guess I will try some of those suggestions and see if there is any improvement. Thanks.

Sick Goldfish - Floats to the top!

I have a Fantail Goldfish in a 20 Gallon Tank. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate <20, PH 7.0. The tank has been up and running for almost two years. He has had the tank for himself for about two months. He is still small, about 2-3 inches. Yesterday he was just laying in a corner of the...

    Fish food!!

Cool. Thanks. Probably will go shop for some food tomorrow. I feel bad that they eat the same thing everyday. Want to give them some variety!

    Fish food!!

I have a small school of neon tetras and one of zebra danios. A couple of platies. A Dwarf Grourami, Bristlenose plecos and 2 Angelfish. (I know angels and neon tetras may not work, I like my neons but fell in love with a couple of Angels and it turned into an impulse buy). I've been feeding...

    Fish food!!

Are the pellets small or large? Most of my fish are pretty small or juveniles.

    Fish food!!

What kind/brand of food do you guys feed your fish? I have been feeding mine tetra crisps. I like these because they don't seem to me as messy as flakes. I know you should vary every now and then so I am trying to figure out what else to give. I was thinking dried blood worms but the label...

To Sump or not to Sump?

You wont have an overflow if it is set up correctly. You set the sump water lever with the power off. The overflow on the top right dictates the water level. When you turn on the pump the sump empties some of the water into the tank until it reaches the water level then it comes down back to...

To Sump or not to Sump?

Here you can see a pic of my tank with the overflow box on the top right.

To Sump or not to Sump?

As a thought, if you do go with a sump you don't necessarily need to drill anything in the tank. I have a saltwater tank that I converted to freshwater. It has a wet dry with a 15 gallonish sump. The overflow box hangs on the back corner of the tank and trickles down via a tube to the sump...

    Platy had a Baby!!

Unfortunately I made a couple of impulse buys. I have mostly small fish (danios and tetras). I also have a DG, a couple of BBQ places but the impulse buy was a couple of juvy angels. There really small right now. I have a 55g which gives them plenty of room to hide. For filter I have a wet...

    Platy had a Baby!!

One of my Platies has seemed a little on the heavy side for a few days. I thought maybe eating too much food. Last couple of days she looks normal again. This evening I was just relaxing looking at my tank and I noticed something tiny swimming on the bottom. It was a baby Platy! Really cute...

    PWC and Prime

No scienti6fic experiment is needed. A little research on google can tell you the average lifespan of a specific fish in the wild. For examples sake, if a Cichlid in the wild has an average life span of 5 years but yours are dying after one year something is wrong. Buy many people have cared...

    PWC and Prime

Actually, people have been using de-chlorinzers (many brands not just prime) for many years now. I had my first fish tank 12 years ago and a that was one of the first items given to me at the LFS. Whether using a python etc which is a newer method or using a bucket with fresh water (maybe the...

    PWC and Prime

Heck for that matter we drink chlorine in our water every day. See what happens if you intake a large amount of chlorine.
  25. Crick127

    PWC and Prime

The Chlorine example you gave is not the same thing. Exposing the fish to a small amount of chlorine is by no means the same thing as dumping chlorine powder into the tank. That would be like saying eating steak is bad for you. If you eat red meat for lunch and dinner every day you will...
