    Goldies great move today

Exactly Glassbird :) thanks for being here again. I did exactly that and when testing my water after these changes, (test tube) it was ammonia 0, nitrite 0 but nitrate a little higher. So... I went to my pet store and was advised to buy 3 serpae tetras, which I did and a few hours later they...

    Goldies great move today

Yes, today I moved my 9 sweeties to the Sierra Water Gardens. :( 3 good friends helped me and I tried to do it gently, but of course they must have been quite traumatized. It was a lovely day but the pond water was much colder than there were used to . . . Anyway they dipped the plastic bag in...

    Goldies or fresh water tropicals?

Thank you so much again. Well after your post, and also learning today that even the fancy goldfish can get huge, I'm really veering towards tropicals, and perhaps a planted tank, or at least a mixture. Little by little. I know I will need a thermometer, but my main concern is the water quality...

Cloudy Water Has Returned - At My Wits' End...Is Purigen the Answer?

I'm not sure about Purigen, never used it, but I have 9 rescued goldfish. Love'em to death but keeping the water clear is quite a challenge. This rock (yes you just plonk it in your tank, then see what happens :smilecolros: If you google ecobio block you'll get all the info. Good luck.

Cloudy Water Has Returned - At My Wits' End...Is Purigen the Answer?

I've had some recurring problems with cloudy water BUT there is out there an amazing product called EcoBio-Block. A natural stone made of volcanic and grass matter. I have found it just amazing. My water looks wonderful! You might like to check it out :) I have no vested interest in this, just...

Hi Friends ;) Maybe some of you have read the long story of my experience with moving 9 goldfish from a bad small pond, to a 50 g aquarium. That was a year ago and what a beginner I was. But thanks to some terrific advice I received here, for which I am ever grateful, we all went through the...

Can I introduce a new species to my goldfish community?

Thanks so much for all the input. I do appreciate. After reading your post I went back with a ruler and am wrong about sizes. The biggest goldfish is about 6-7 inches long and the others are not too far behind! The water is probably not perfect: 0 ammonia, .5 nitrite, but .25 nitrate (too much I...

    Led or fluorescent lighting?

Thank you all very much. I do appreciate and have learned something I did not know. I guess I would all the same be interested in Jimbo7's suggestion because they save energy and do not heat (I've head also), if I can find them. My fish like cool water. And perhaps too: looks :)

    Led or fluorescent lighting?

I have a 50 gallon freshwater aquarium with 9 goldfish successfully saved from an old pond. This is my first experience, so I really owe my success to the wonderful support from members of this forum. The tank came with 2 hoods and fluorescent lights, (standard I believe), from Petsmart. Now the...

Can I introduce a new species to my goldfish community?

The little community ALL...

    LED lighting?

Upgrading to a new 50g tank which came with 2 hoods and also have heard a lot about LED lighting as a better option. Anyone tried that? And... probably a dumb question but I absolutely cannot figure out how to install a check valve on my tubing... Tubing came with it but it does not seem to...
