    Mini Cycle Issues

Any way you could do a gradual PWC or add some plant life (or something) just to get the ammo down a little bit more before adding the rock? I know getting rid of ammonia in a reef can be tricky work. My SW tanks look like jungles, lol. It might not be a popular look, but plants help.

    Clown fish and anemones

Certain species of clownfish prefer certain types of anemones, and there are certain matches which will never work out. Here is a decent guide to help you choose: Clownfish and Anemone Compatibility Chart I have a yellow and maroon clownfish in a purple long-tentacled anemone right now. I've...

    Planning A 10g Saltwater Tank

:) Excuse my intrusion..... But my first saltwater tank had only a yellow watchman goby and his shrimp buddy in it.... And two snails. I started out with freshwater too (and I still prefer it to SW, lol, just easier) and I know you're thinking that one fish is NOTHING, but believe me, they are...

    Carey's Cichlids!!

If cichlids weren't so "enthusiastic", I'd have a million of them. :D Such gorgeous fish. Nice photos!

    Smelly Aquarium Help

People are always skeptical when I post this, but if your tank is TRULY not overpopulated, try an EcoBio stone. If your tank IS overpopulated, you will just end up spending alot of money on an aquarium decoration. It's a rock that (somehow) benefits the bacterial cycle and increases water...

New Look This Week - Forum Changes!

Lol my problem is completely the opposite.... I need to scroll side to side just to read threads and see who posted what... But when I set my monitor to 75%, everything is too tiny to read.

    Going from freshwater to saltwater?

Saltwater is more demanding than freshwater, both financially and time-wise, but if you do it right, it can be extremely rewarding. My first SW critters were a goby and a shrimp who lived together, and they were surprisingly entertaining for being seemingly insignificant little things, but I...

New Look This Week - Forum Changes!

I'm sure my opinion won't count for much, but I liked it alot better the way it was before. :( It loaded much faster, was easier to navigate, and didn't upset my computer. I have quit many forums entirely due to the fact that they were so "hi-tech" that I couldn't even enjoy them, and I had...

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

That's what I did. Instead of getting little bubbles everywhere, I get big bubbles from one spot. I put a big ceramic cichlid rock over the bubbly spot and it looks alot better... The bubbles just come out of the holes in the rock. However, I could have done the same thing with a $2 airstone...

Would This be Possible? Half Saltwater Half Freshwater Tank

That would be awesome. Especially if you could level the substrate just right and make it look like one tank from a distance.

What made you want a REEF aquarium?

Ohhhh that sounds sweet! My... I can't imagine having to change houses with a well-established reef..... Yikes!

Would This be Possible? Half Saltwater Half Freshwater Tank

I used to have two seperate 5g tanks squeezed into one frame meant for a tank twice the size, but they were both betta tanks. We used mountable false stone backgrounds on each dividing wall (and the backs) and it turned out pretty sweet. I ended up giving one of the tanks to a friend to take to...

What made you want a REEF aquarium?

Definitely a good teacher of patience, too. :) Patience, responsibility, and respect. I hope I live to see my own reef turn into something awesome like that. I can't imagine how rewarding that must feel.

Should I euthanize or keep trying? :/

I stopped everything when he got sick, but I'm going to continue the salt treatment. I can't get into town today as we got 5" of snow this morning and it is now 3" of frozen slush; I just put my summer tires back on and I'd rather wait until tomorrow than risk it.

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

Rearranged my 20g and hooked up bubblers in my 20g and 50g. The 50g went fine, I think because it is sand, but the 20g... What a waste of my lunch time. :( The bubbles don't penetrate the gravel very well at all.

What made you want a REEF aquarium?

'Cause they're gorgeous, lol. All I've got is soft photosynthetic inverts and some rather convincing fake corals. I never did have great luck with acropora, despite how awesome I think they are. I've always loved the way reefs tend to look, but not so with how much they tend to cost and the...

Should I euthanize or keep trying? :/

Well, he still won't eat, but he is acting more and more normal. He isn't all distorted anymore and he is MUCH more reactive to stuff around him. I think he's going to be alright. I'm going to reintroduce the salt this evening, if he is the same or better.

260 gallon stock list critique? (Not stocked yet, lol)

Spoonman, I think with the other stuff we bought (particularily the new skimmers) we will be MORE than fine. Lol. Carey, that list is awesome. I don't have any experience with alot of the fish though. I'm on google, LOL. As long as they won't eat eachother, I'm happy. It's probably going to be...

Should I euthanize or keep trying? :/

Yes, he loves both. Usually. I haven't tried anything live for two days, so I'm going to give it a shot now and see if he takes interest. I'm going to be pretty bummed out if he doesn't make it. He's by far the prettiest male I've ever had.

260 gallon stock list critique? (Not stocked yet, lol)

We definitely want a reef tank with lots of brightly colored fish, but I think the majority of our corals will probably be fake; I tried SPS once and I had to rehome them before I killed them. I've always loved sponges. I think they are just great, and for whatever reason, they seem to be really...

Should I euthanize or keep trying? :/

He looks a heck of alot better today. He is reacting to movement outside the tank, and he is much more alert. He is swimming better, but now he has his whole body curved into an S and it sort of just stays that way. Alot of his color came back too. Yesterday he looked a bit brown. Should I try...

260 gallon stock list critique? (Not stocked yet, lol)

We've purchased everything aside from lights and piping (and live rock/sand), but nothing is put together, unfortunately. Most of the stuff is still boxed. I honestly haven't a clue what I'm doing, if you couldn't tell. Lol. This will only be our second SW tank but I think it will be good for...

Should I euthanize or keep trying? :/

:( He looks pretty crappy right now. I'm drip acclimating Julius back into a smaller tank with untreated water to avoid damaging him as well. :( Juno is still cock-eyed. Do you guys think he will live? Is this damage permanent? :( I'm not sure I can get any type of Maracyn here but I will look...
