What about dwarf gourami you can have 3 or 4 of them and they come in a few different color choices. I am thinking along the same line as you are with fish. This is my stocking list so far with a 90 gallon tank
8 zebra danios
4-6 dwarf gourami (different colors)
4 boesemani rainbows
4 dwarf...
dwarf gourami should be kept in pairs. They don't do well by its self. You can try a male and a female as a pair. That is what my fish guy told me to do. I haven't gotten mine yet because my tank is still cycling and I use the fish food method.
I will post pictures when the tank is complete and congrats on your monster of a tank broncofan. It is looking really good. I must admit I have been following along.
barbs don't really get along with the fish that I would like to have. Not saying that they won't ever get along just I don't want to take a chance on it.
These are the fish that I am leaning towards but don't know if they will work well together.
8 zebra danios
3 or 4 neon blue dwarf gourami
5 boesemani rainbowfish
5 dwarf neon rainbowfish
8 emperor tetras or neon tetras
Should I stock anything else in there or would you leave it the way it is...
Ok I finally got my big tank all 90 gallons of it....lol. I have a small school of zebra danios that I have had for about a week now I was wondering what other fish can live peacefully with my little fishy? The other fish I am planning on getting is a few dwarf gourami. Like the neon blue...
Ok so I found two rocks in my garden today I washed them both off with a toothbrush and then I boiled them. I dripped peroxide on them in the beginning before cleaning and they bubbled but after cleaning they didn't bubble. My brother said they was sandstone so I could use them. I read on...
thanks heath I will try that with this rock I found in my garden in the dirt. I will clean it up first and get all the dirt off of it first and then test it with the peroxide. If it don't bubble I will soak it for about a week and then test.
ok thanks a lot. I really want to be able to use what I can find around my area to cut down on cost a little bit. around here it is about 20 bucks for a small piece of driftwood.
I was thinking about doing algae wafers for the oto. If that would work. When I get plants and fish do I take the fish filter cartridges out of the filter and run them without those in it. It would still have that little piece of black stuff in it.
ok no heating pads. Got ya. I will most likely get my heater off of my fish guy. That way I know I am getting the right one the first time and don't have to waste money on getting another one.
boy my shopping list keeps getting bigger. But it will make my tank a better place for the fishy to live. I want to do an oto but my son gets to pick the fish. Any fish that don't do well with an oto I should know about?
thanks for the advice logansmomma I will keep that in mind when purchasing the heater.
Do you know anything about getting rocks out of the garden area that was in the ground or taking them from a creek near by to add to my tank. Should I boil them like driftwood (which I still can't find a...
heath can i put anything in with the dwarf gourami. I seen a neon blue dwarf gourami once and fell in love with them. Is that what you are talking about?
I guess I will have to look for a heater. Don't know what size I will need but I will check at the store usually they have them with a tank estimate on the boxes.
I was think about doing a dwarf puffer but as you said it is for my son. I just want to be able to show him some fish and let him pick them out for himself. I just wanted to make sure I could show him something other than a betta so he will have a choice.
no we have city water but I live in the mountains at one time there was well water here but we don't use it anymore. Just one more quick question. Do I have to have a heater if my water temps stay in the upper 70s? right now it is at 78 degrees
I am really excited to start this tank with plants. Atleast I knew to do a fishless cycle or I would have to wait for a longer time. Do any of you have any idea on what type of fish I can keep in here other than a betta. Or a betta with something else.
the closest library to me is like 45 minutes away I live in the middle of no where....lol. But I will stop in there the next time I go into town and pick up a few books for some light reading this week.
Yea I read over most of them that I thought might be helpful to me and there was a lot of really good information out there on this site. Even for a beginner that knows nothing about plants like me....lol
Thank you so much for your help HeathB. I think I will buy some plants this coming weekend and change my lighting too. I will post pictures if I still remember how on this thread when i get my plants and get them all settled in.
yes it is logansmomma. I really like it here. I tried another one with the same questions and it still doesn't have any answers on it and that was about 2 weeks ago. But that was on a differnt website. And thank you for the article links. I will check them out. Maybe the more I know about...
is there any special care that I have to do to plants before putting them in my tank. Like do I rinse them off in conditioned water before putting them in my tank?
