    naso tang funny color

    my naso that i have had for about 3 weeks has finally started to eat very little and picking at rock. he is also still very shy, this should all get better but his color is real funny looking his body is very splotchy, with dark grey spots what could this be from.

    yes it requires a ballast to handle the gain in wattage. uri, icecap, and some workhorses can power vho's. i personally have a icecap 660 running 4 110 watt bulbs and a workhorse 7 running a 5 th bulb.

    anyone ever tried this kalk alternative, i guess is what it would be. it came with a free alk test kit and claims this powder mix you can add directly to tank unlike other kalk powders. i will try it out and let you guys know.

    How much Actinic 03 do I really need in a 60 Gallon Reef?

    i personally run 4 110 vho's, 1 being actinic white an dth e other 3 being actinic 03 blue. i like the look better with more blue.

    uncured liverock

    i added 15 lbs of uncured rock to my tank with 70 or so lbs of 5 year old cured rock. my amonia level is a .5 ppm, all other levels are good nitrite 0, nitrate <5 ppm, sg 1.024, ph 8.2. with this level off fairly quick? my fish and corals are looking a little stressed.

    it was a shelf that was already there. just happen to be 48 3/4 by 19. so the footprint was perfect for a large tank. just cut a hole for the two hoses going to the reef ready overflow.

    i set up my new tank finally. i moved the rock and water last night and the fish and wet/dry this morning i still need to finish my top and the sand still needs to settle. what do you all think
