    ammonia for cycling

No froth in the tank. Only in the bottle when I shake it. The tank seems fine, although even though the ammonia levels seem to drop from day to day, I have yet to see any nitrites/ates. Anyway, I think I'll do a 75 percent water change now and then cycle again. If the tank cycles and can have...

    ammonia for cycling

Nioe., unfortunately its a frothy bubbling that doesn't go away even several minutes later. There is definitely some sort of detergent in there even though it only has ammonium hydroxide listed under ingredients.

    ammonia for cycling

Hey! I've added no more than 30 ml. I'm hoping a 75 percent water change would be enough. I'll go to ace hardware and get the right stuff. Just hoping I don't need to scrub everything or something like that. 30 mL of ammonia with only a very small percent of detergent or surfactant that would...

    ammonia for cycling

Hi, I have begun cycling my tank with Shoprite clear ammonia, the label just says ammonium hydroxide, and i believed this to be the correct stuff. I have added about 30ml to my 75 gallon tank so far. I have recently read that if the bottle bubbles when shaken, it is bad to use. Well, sure enough...

    Filter for 75 gallon?

Well I can get the ehiem 2217 for 130 dollars or the fluval for 160, fluval is rated 383 gph with out media, and the ehiem is rated 264 with media, so Im not sure what to get anymore. I may be able to afford the ehiem plus HOB

    Filter for 75 gallon?

I think I want to get the fluval 406, but should I also get a HOB like an AC70 to add some extra gph? Or is this enough already for mbuna cichlids?

    Filter for 75 gallon?

Yeah, That's the Issue, I know I will need to slightly overstock with mbuna, So I was looking for some over filtration, Maybe If I need I should just add a AC70 HOB with polyfill for some additional tunrover.

    Filter for 75 gallon?

Alright, Im leaning towards the 406, but my concern is this is not enough filtration, I guess I will wait for a few more votes on the poll and maybe some more people to chime in, thank you all for your opinion so far.

    Filter for 75 gallon?

I am starting a 75 gallon Mbuna tank soon and am currently looking for some filter options. I was thinking maybe the ehiem 2217 or the fluval 406? But I'm worried neither of these have enough filtration or gph for the tank. I have posted a poll, I would appreciate it it if you could vote, and...

Looking to start my first reef

Ok, How much of a price difference would it be from a 40 to a 75? I'm really not even sure how much a 40 would cost with everything. I would be grateful If someone could give me a breakdown of parts, and what they may cost. My other option is to do a 20 or a 10 gallon, and move my FW fish over...

Looking to start my first nano reef

Hey, I was actually thinking about maybe even doing a 40b tank. I'm really more interested in building it myself rather than doing a complete system like a biocube. I made another thread over on getting started, in case a 40b is not considered nano any more.

    2 dead corys

Today i woke up to 2 dead corys, ammonia .25-.5 (believed to be due to the dead fish) no nitrite, 40ppm nitrate. Did a water change to remove ammonia. All other fish look quite healthy. I had noticed these corys acting strange for quite some time, such as lying on the bottom of the tank for a...

    Power Outage

I think its warm enough outside to keep the temp up. I wasn't going to worry about that. But should i just stir my tank every so often if the power fails?

    Power Outage

The closest wall mart that carries that by me is an hour away, i cant get that. and all the stores are swamped right now, 30 minute waits just to get in the parking lots.
