If she doesn't listen to you, then she's not going to listen to me....but that tank is OVERSTOCKED!

How often should nerites be fed?

I never feed my nerites. They eat leftover food and debris and do just fine.

    Alge what can i do

Get a few oto's and nerite snails. You'll never see or scrape algae again.

    New Fish?

That's probably why. I would reccomend finding a good locally owned fish store to do business with. At the Petco and Petsmart near me the fish are always in poor condition. They usually have diseases and parasites and are half-dead in the store.

    New Fish?

Where did you purchase the neons? Be careful where you buy from. My guess is they were sick right out of your fish store. Make sure they have good color & don't have ich.

    Is this a good deal?

I have yet to replace any sand, just be careful not to gravel vac any up when you clean the bottom. My cabinet is black so I used the Carb-Sea Instant Aquarium black sand which is a finely ground quartz material. This also jump-starts your cycle because the bags contain live bacteria already...

    Is this a good deal?

I find sand not only much better looking (personal preference) but also much easier to clean. This is because things don't get stuck "in-between" the gravel, so my filter is able to whisk away the debris right off the top. I also have a shoal of cory catfish and a couple nerite snails that...

    Pearl Gourami Dead???

Gourami's can get startled easily. Considering you bought him a few days ago I'm guessing he was startled either by a person or fish in his new tank...causing him to run into the glass and bruise his head That's just my CSI from the info given :)

    Is this a good deal?

It's a great deal, new tanks in the store cost $1 per gallon when they are on sale. A cabinet can range anywhere from $100-$400 new from the store, unless you have the ability to build one yourself cheaper. A filter for a 44 gallon tank I would guesstimate would run $30-$40. So I say NICE FIND...

    Switching from Freshwater to Saltwater

Thanks for replying Joy I really appreciate your insight...starting slowly with a few questions. What is RO water? I would have to remove all my fresh-water and replace it with salt-water? How? I would have to re-cycle the whole tank? When I do water changes I can't use tap water, what do I...

    Switching from Freshwater to Saltwater

Hey Everyone. I currently have a 30 gallon freshwater tank that has been up and running for awhile. What would I need to do if I wanted to convert it to Saltwater and about how much would it cost to do so? Also, I have a couple balloon mollies, they can survive if I switch to saltwater...

    Aggressive German Blue Ram

Take him back to the store and get another...will save a lot of aggravation :banghead:

    Aggressive German Blue Ram

I would take him back to the store. You got yourself a stinker. DO NOT add a female. This will only cause him to display his dominance even more and escalate his harassment of your other fish, kill the female, and flash throughout the tank.

    Bottom Feeder advice

My bottom dwelling cleanup crew consists of Oto's, Cory Cats, and Nerite snails. They keep my tank mint.

    Is this alright?

Ridiculous...A horrible LFS of mine had a cichlid for sale for $25 (forgot which kind) and it was suffering from severe fin rot and probably only had a few days left. What a ripoff.

Injury or something else? - picture included

Looks like a bacterial infection to me or he ran himself into the glass. The fins were probably nipped post mortem

    Starting all over now

I have kept an aggressive betta successfully with a school of neon tetra's as well as a shoal of cory catfish. Betta's are a fighter fish and will generally go after any fish that is colorful or has a long tail because they think it is another betta to fight! Fish that didn't work out with my...

    Mollie Problem

Good point, I forgot to mention to keep doing the 30% water changes for a few days

    Mollie Problem

sounds like popeye, usually happens when there is ammonia levels in the water or dirty water, try changing 30% water and it should go away within a few days.

    My mudskippers

cool fish, where do you get them? are they expensive?

    Who/what is killing my guppies?

Sorry to hear you have expensive fish (discus) that are going to die or live a very short life.

    Guppies in Filterless Bowl

Great idea, I will put them in one of my buckets, largest size I have is 2.5 gallons but they are small guppies so that should work great.
