    6G Nano/Pico Build

There is a link I need to find on an article about a guy who keeps 2g and smaller reef tanks. He does a 90% water change weekly and some of his tanks have been up for years. Anyways you don't need a HOB but it helps. You can hide your heater and what not back there. Also the ac50 on my 4g pico...

How to clear up my new nano tank

That is a lot of fish for a small tank... I agree with the above. Get rid of some of the fish abd use the money to buy a UV steralizer.

    The new guy

Hello everyone. Found this site on my new droid phone while bored at work. I'm a grower in a whole sale greenhouse and things are slow this time of year. :P Fish stuff.. um I've had freshwater sense I was born 28 years. My dad is a huge fish guy and I grew up with tanks. About 6 years ago I...

strange growth near my button polyps

Maybe a feather duster or other tube worm.

    what the heck is this?

They eat detritus and left over fish food. No need to really feed them specifically.

    Upgrading to Hydor Koralia's

That should be enough. If they don't take up to much space a couple 240s might be better to make the flow more chaotic.

    what the heck is this?

Yep blue leg hermit. Good little CuC. Little buggers can get annoying if you have lots of them and they are pretty hardy. Usually harmless tho except for maybe knocking coral over. :D

Purple People Eater Palythoa with no color

Kinda skimmed this quick but I've had simular problems in the past with purple deaths and PPE. Usually it was because they were getting to much or not enough light.

lots of fine particles in water

Ya just check the pump if it doesn't stop. Air bubbles will piss off coral and can hurt things like sponges but they shouldn't be a prob right now.

    My 14G Biocube

No worries. I've had reef tanks for about 7 years now. Just take things slow as unbareable as it can be and remember water changes can make or brake your tank. :) Good luck and happy reefing!

lots of fine particles in water

Hmmm could be air trapped somewhere... or if your tanks fairly new dino algea will give off bubbles and they might be getting sucked in the pump?

lots of fine particles in water

Did your water level get to low? Or do you have a skimmer of some type. Usually bubbles are from a skimmer or pump.

    My 14G Biocube

Wow that is a lot of snails haha. Should be ok, only thing I would worry about is the snails not having enough food and dieing. Maybe we can trade some snails for calupra. :P Also tanks looking good.

@classklown haha ill see if I can work something out. @ eric like classklown said in the second chamber, you'll want to make sure it gets light. Check around online there are a lot of great cheap ways to do that. Also be careful with the lr rubble in tbe back chambers. Its debateable if its...

Haha ya its been growing in a tank for about 5 years and I haven't trimmed it in probably 6 months. I live right outside of Omaha, NE. Just moved to a new house so ill be moving the tank in the next week or 2 and could easily send you some.

How important is salinity with new liverock?

Just depends on how much life on the rock you want to keep alive. If its a new tank then the cycle will kill a lot of it. You could keep the salinity the same and just change it slowly over a few days or just change it right away. Either way won't do anything bad I don't think, just alter how...

Your best bet would be to see if there are any local reefers or clubs. Locals can be very helpful! Otherwise just keep your eyes open around the LFS. I have tons of calupra that I may be able to send you. The stuff grows extremely fast and I've probably got a good 5g buckets worth I need to trim.

They use to. They would be in the middle back compartment. I think they have started making them so they are reef ready for the most part anymore.

    Help. Well water.

Invest in a test for iron. It could cause problems if its to high. Or get an RODI unit. Or last resort I've got RODI water from the machines at the supermarket and it was fine.
