i have heaps of LR and only use my skimmer occasionally, E very one will tell you you need a skimmer but i personally dont agree, i used to run a skimmer all the time and my corals were dying, now they are multiplying all over the place. I think the wooden diffuser skimmer is a good start as...

Volitan Lionfish Advice Needed Newbie Here

it is good to see that your lion already takes prepared foods, i wouldnt worry about him going without food, in the wild they are opportunistic hunters, they only eat when the food comes to them, if he doesnt eat for a while try a live fish, this will pep him up. The lion is a great fish...

garlic guard added to food makes all fish and infact all life (corals, inverts) in my tank go on a feeding frenzy, only my snowflake eel wont touch it.

Cyano or diatoms? Can you tell me what I have? PIC

increasing currents on cyano areas also helps, but clean it first or you will just spread it around the tank.

was there something wrong in the tank before you did the big clean. were the fish already showing signs of stress or is this your regular maintenance. Maybe there was a problem already and the shock was too much for them.

    High Nitrate Levels/Drooping Corals

i think it will not be fun but this drastic measure should be carried out, have you cleaned and maintained your filters. the nitrates could be in a dirty filter bed, or as you said under the rocks. i vacuum under the rocks about once a year and the nitrates drop dramatically, if you seen the...

    Odd Fish Behavior

my clownfish often look odd as they attempt to hover stationary in one spot, with a slight bobbing up and down in the current. I think they are resting, the corner they have chosen probably looks safe, my clowns dont attempt to shelter in the rocks at night, they stay out riding the currents, i...

i personally dont think that reef safe treatments work well for ich, i used malachite green and tri sulpha and it did nothing, i only got rid of it after moving the fish to QT and treating with copper.
